The narrow window
The cat can't move in
Though it tries with its head
Nudging it to clear
The gap is small
The cat can't crawl through
The blades of light
The shadow playing
In the distance darkness
The eyes red of a rat
Squeaking in fear of its life
The cat can put its paw
Filling the gap
The rat moves away
A distance from the cat
Whiskers paging fear
The puppy dog runs along
Growling at the cat to move away
It has occupied its place
The cat meows and runs
The little rat sighs of relief
In the hole of the narrow window
The puppy dog falls asleep
The rat quickly makes its exist
