the old beggar

The old beggar
He sits on the five foot way
Old and haggard; alone in his world
Maybe thinking where does he go wrong?

The eyes of lost dreams
The years of youth wasted
He sits on the public corridor
Unkempt he just couldn't care

He looks at passersby
The far away look
He knows he has lost it
The years wasted away

Will others learn?
In the youth one has to plan
Do not be afraid to venture beyond
Remember too the basic structures

Else look at the old beggar
The living soul lost in his world
The dreams have all gone
He is alone no home no family

The living goal posts
There are there to remind us
We have a journey to go
Do not waste it by taking detours
