the apartment 2

The plastic sheets on the marble floor
A straight line from the hall to the rooms
Laying out to protect the floor surfaces
When the workers bring sand and tiles...

The drilling will begin
The sound of vibration and dust
On the kitchen floor and bathrooms
The old tiles for new ones appear

The water cisterns dismantled
The old ones have served its time
The wash basins too suffered the fate
The indignity of broken pieces..

The knocking on the bathroom walls
The web of lines for new tiles to arrive
The workers keep hammering it away
The neighbours may whisper of the noise

In time things will start moving
One romm is left for the last outing
It is all about space of goods and books
Waiting for one room to get it done quick

The apartment of silence
Nobody stays there for years
It is for the memories

Of the good life it brings
