in Tunku's time

Tunku lived
In his time of peace
The harmonious interfaiths
The young nation got a lift

We had no issue
With religious intolerance
We lived sharing our independence
Of a young nation blooming

Everyone knew
Broke away into race
The young nation would suffer
So it did happen

May 13 came
The leaders behind the racial riots
Tunku had said in his book
It shouldn't have happened

The decades gone into it
We lived through the pain
A black spot in our history
A nation split by greedy leaders

The moderate Tunku
He wanted everyone to be happy
Lived in the peaceful environment
Lived in interfaith harmony

The decades gone into it
The nation changed
Now the structures seem to fray
Of a race trying to dominate

The leaders should see their fingers
Each has a role to play in the main body
Nobody is lesser than the rest
Each his a unique role to make the best
