The village life
Open field quietness spins
Of life and many pursuits
Catching dragonflies catapulting lizards
Under the belly of homes
Playing marbles catching spiders
Travelled long way from home
On the river banks forgetting about crocodiles
Those years when young children roamed
There was no difference in race
Everybody enjoyed the friendship then
Even gangs in the village
They didn't fight over petty issues
Protecting turfs from outsiders
Make the village life free
Occasionally police raided
Came with Black Maria
Rounded up the gangsters
Of troubles in town
In time village broke up
As developments came
Families uprooted
Friends all disappeared
Now the place
Once I knew so well
Highrise buildings
The village I knew
Gone into memory
Of a place I once was there
