the mining pond

The former mining pond
It lays quiet for years
Covered by the water lilies
Sometimes there is a monitor lizard

The rubbish of stones, concrete and wood
The people throwing into the mining pond
It has becomee the dumping ground
For the town council workers too

The hawker's food court nearby
The waste of water flowing right in it
There is no filtration system
IWK never comes to make its policy works

The dirty works dump into the mining pond
It has become an easy work to dispose of rubbish
Nobody cares to look it there....
Near the road a Chinese woman sets her drinking stall

One day the whole area was cleared
The town council workers came
Chopping down trees and bushes
The water lilies partly took away

Suddenly many men stopped by to look
Early in the morning watching the pond
Maybe they were looking for skeletons
Stories of those who committed suicide

Nothing has been done
What is the plan hardly known
Every day many men hanging around
Watching the pond thinking of something else
