the dog in the box

At the back lane
Of the old town
The dog is kept
I think it's like
3 feet by 4 feet box
The dog can hardly stand up
It has to lie down
Living out his dog life

The dog can't complain
There is shelter and food to eat
Freedom is just a passing fact
In the box what do you expect?
At the back lane the dog sleeps..

The passing motorists
They will not notice
The box sits above the drain
At the back door of s shopping lot
Living out his dog life
Quietly waiting for the passing light

The dog lies quietly
It is much better than the stray dogs
Where the dogs beg for food
Tomorrow the future can't be certain
