the girl by the window

The girl by the window
Looking out to the street
The walkers and cars passing by
The noises ring in her ears

The window shoppers walk
Stopping for a while to see
Some look up at the girl
She looks with her sad eyes

The girl by the window
She can't play with other kids
She has no legs to walk
She can only see

The time passes through
The girl listens to her time
Ticking it away until meals time
But she stays by the window

The girl by the window
Looking out to the street
The walkers and cars passing by
The noises ring in her ears
