The rat can’t run
Out in the open
Snooping for food
In the cloudy sky
The black cat
watches
All ears and eyes
The rat is still
unaware
His life is in
danger
Without making a
sound
The black cat
pounces on the rat
The rat is caught
in his mouth
Struggling to get
free but only death waits
The black cat runs
When the rain falls
With his prey for
the afternoon
He will not jump in
for his food
