make the best of time in hand

In the cage
The fully grown birdies
Standing on claws showing antics
Stretching wings and legs

The little royalty
Getting fed from the parenting birds
Bringing food of berries, grasshoppers, nectar
Sometimes other insects

4 days in the bird cage
Learning how to chirp...
Calling for food it seems
The parenting birds keeping schedules

Yesterday in late afternoon
One birdie got choked to death
By the time it was found.....
It was gasping body weak

Trying to help
Feeding water rubbing the small throat
It struggled eyes open and close
Finally it was totally gone...

Released the lone birdie
It flew away dropped on the road
Finally took its final step
Winged away to the big trees

The journey of a life
It can't be predicted the outcome
Even for birds or animals or humans
Make the best of the time in hand
