We
used to cycle to schools
Those
were the days when the weather was cool
Every
student would find it easy to pedal along
Saving
time and getting up early in the morning
When
the buses usually would arrive in the dawn
When
the street lights were still shining
When
the sun was still in slumber
Sometimes
the buses never arrived
The
teachers would ask for explanation
Too
many excuses the teachers may not like
Some
may have to stand outside the class
As
a form of punishment of telling too many lies
Cycling
was the way to save time
Those
were the days when traffic was low
Cycling
was a breeze in the early morning
The
school compound would see many bicycles
Some
bicycles may get out of air
Where
the naughty students would do it
Taking
potshots at the random bicycles
But
the years ahead changed
The
motorbikes came into scene
Wealthy
parents could afford it
The
secondary students would ride in
Honking
the new parade on show
The
bicycles slowly disappeared
The
weather too was hot
The
traffic was heavy
Then
back to public buses
Woke
up early in the morning
Catching
buses in sleeping heads
And
to watch girls riding on the buses
A
good bargain for a change of scene
Now
we see
Bicycles
seem the last resort
The
battery operated bikes on the street
The
students and adults ride it on
The
progress but health suffers
