the numbers game unnecessary

The opponents are trying
The Brutuses are plotting
The Trojan horses are waiting
All because of the Old Man?

He sits nicely in his office
He doesn't bother what is said
He has a job to do
Though age isn't kind to him

He plays his card to his chest
He wants to watch the plotters game
Though he may want to stay on
But he knows of his promise

A gentleman mustn't forget
It is a sin to pretend it doesn't matter
The coalition partners honoured the set up
The Old Man shouldn't pretend

The members who signed on SD
They have to show their hands
They shouldn't pretend they don't know
The voters will want to see their faces

But the Old Man doesn't need it
The numbers game to stay on
He has to keep to his promise
The rest will be in history
