when times are tough

When times are tough
When costs rear its ugly heads
Swinging in every direction
The rich will enjoy their lives
The middle income groups will survive
Only the poor and marginalized will cry
Where to put food on the table and smile?

The homeless will carry on
They have been doing it for years
Sometimes without food for days
Sleeping on the public corridors
They don't know what the country is doing
For them they can't even have food sometimes

Those who are battling to survive
They will do what they think is right
Offering their bodies for money to live
They bite the bullets and work it out
They have no choice with many mouths to feed
Charity will not knock on the doors
They have to exchange something of value
So that's the way so they have to go

The costs will weigh in into our lives
There is no way to hide and pretend
Learn to live within the means
Wait for the opportunity for a change
This time don't be fooled by the lofty promises

Now the reality sinks in badly for many
