It is a gift to the nation

Once the British ruled it here

A gift the country seems to get lost

We have the politicians

Muscle in to promote racial agenda

The supremacy of a race

Forgetting the importance of English

These politicians will send children

Overseas to learn English and degrees

Leaving behind the villagers' children

Learning their own mother tongue

What progress in the end?

The wrong approach causing pain

The generations coming after 1970

Struggling to compete in the world

We lost our brightest minds

They should be helping the nation to progress

But the country doesn't help them

So other countries benefit at our expense

The coconut shell of living

Climbing up the coconut trees

So high we thought we could fly

But our politicians illusion wasted generations

English language must return

All students should master it

We can't be floating along in dreams

The world will not wait for us
