killing dogs without compassion

The Seremban town council officers shot dead 13 dogs in a terrace house in Seremban. I dont agree the officers carry out their duties. They should advice the owner, cajole him to hand over the dogs but the dogs owner refuse. Prior to the shooting incident, the neighbors had complained about the dogs barking every day. The dogs owner too is at fault. How could he rear over 25 dogs in his terrace house? If he wants to rear dogs or catch stray dogs, he should understand the neighbors' feeling. He can't just do it for the sake that he wanted to help these poor dogs running loose without an owner to take care. First rule of rearing animals (dogs & cats) know your neighbors' feeling. Second the peace in the neighborhood. Third proper hygience and maintenance. Fourth a proper place to rear animals. He failed all the rules. I dont feel sad for him. I feel pity the dogs had to die brutally. The Seremban officers should have compassion for animals but I dont think these people have it. It is no use going praying many times but never practised what one prays for it. It becomes a sinful act to shoot a defenceless animal.Pity. Sad.

Our PM hiding facts. On the crooked/scenic bridge. Singapore wants sand and air space. So what? We sell we make tons of money. Air space we can control. We dont sell our souls anyway.
This time we shouldnt be so stupid to sell cheap. It should beyond the economic benefits. Now the bridge project was awarded then 3 months later cancelled, it showed how the Abdullah Ahmad Badawi administration runs. It has no focus. Concentrate on agriculture? First ask the graduates..yet we are willing to spend millions to retrain these graduates. Aren't we are stupid here wasting money again? If the government knows that the universitites are ditching out useless papers, why allow it to go on? Because of race! The policy should think of Malaysians not on race! This is the worst social injustice bestowed on the people. Like Hishamuddin welding the KERIS to tell the other races to beware (?) He has become insensitive of other races feeling. Now the bridge should allow to continue. What has Singapore got to lose? Plenty!!! Tourism and port facilities. Economic boom for Johore and the country. It is in this sense that Singapore is building casinoes and theme parks to retain her collection of revenues. It is billions dollars businesses. Here we have our PM cancelled the scenic project. I can visualize it. First every cabinet minister agreed the project is viable and awarded the contract. Then a few months later, they decided it is not good to go on so cancelled the contract. The silly question -Do they know they have to pay millions in compensation? Maybe they dont feel it. After all it is tax payer's money man! Then excuses branded around - it is better to save billions now then paying a paltry sum of millions which was reported something like $100 millions! PM kept quiet allowing his ministers to do the walk..Syed Albar talked on political correctness but not on economic sense. Now Singapore is smiling. They dont worry about the port and tourism facilities. They look at Malaysia read Malays stupid! When are we going to learn? The British bullied us. Japanese slaughtered us. The Communist made holes in our souls. Dont we learn at all? Now we are bullied by Singapore a small city state of over 4 million people. And our PM cakap saja tak tahu nak bikin. Dia harus cerita yang sebenarnya..Dr M memang gila betul! Beliau tidak mahu maruah negara dijatuhkan..sebab itulah Dr M buat bising2 So now I see all the 'yes men/women' defending the PM. I am sure some of these cabinet ministers and chief ministers disagreed with PM silence or the way he handled things in the country. NO....saying yes we get our benefits and positions!

house alarm

My house alarm triggered off somewhere between 8.30am to 12.30pm. I left the house before 8.00am. Everything was fine then. I drove away to stay at the other house. I wasnt aware after that. I only realized the alarm was on when I went to the house after lunch at around 1.00pm. I was surprise and I quickly opened the main door at peeped inside. Everything was there. So I guessed it could be triggered off by the strong wind vibrations or knocking at the neighour house which is currently doing his renovation works. I went around the house. NOthing. It was a false alarm. I will check again around 5.30 pm. I use to park my car inside the car and go for my evening jog or walk. Only at night I switch on the porch light then I go off for my dinner. I only come back around 11.00pm.

PM gone on leave until 15 July. I thought he should have addressed the critical judgements of Dr Mahathir but he left it to his ministers to reply to their former boss/retired PM. Is he afraid that he couldnt give a good reply? He knows Dr M. Without replying to his former boss he thought he could let the matters rest. He shouldnt do that. He should respond to Dr M and dont listen to his advisors or cronies which will make the matter worse especially on investments in the country and bread and butter issues of the people. Now he runs for his holidays. Nazri had no right to respond with his outburts on Dr M. He has made himself of showing no respect to his former PM and UMNO president. He has shown no gratitude. This is what happening when one allowed free reigns to rule. We can't have absolute freedom here. It can't work to the multi-racial country. As I look at it Abdullah Ahmad Badawi should respond by himself and shut up all his ministers. For not responding direct to Dr M he has made himself lost control of his administration. Dr M was his boss once and I think it is very easy to see Dr M direct. Why evade Dr M?


Malaysia every one wants to get publicity for the wrong way of doing it

Tomorrow I am going down to Shah Alam for a night. I will be staying at the Kota Kemuning house near to the golf course. But then I am not a golfing fan. I used to play golf for awhile in the hill resort. My favourite is still jogging. Now I occasionately jog around the housing estate at my current place. Beside I will be driving to Klang too. In all I guess I will finish my errand within 24 hours then I am off driving back to my current place of stay.

We all have jobs to do. What we want from our PM tell us the truths. He is going around in a bush. Tell us what is happening in the country and don't tell us you are walking with the 9th Malaysia Plan. The truth. The plan for the country, as you are aware, will spin to the 10 or 11 or 12 plans. You should make sure it stops at 9th Malaysia Plan that the projects should be completed or planted to finish in a certain fixed years. Monitoring and delivering system must be put in place otherwise every one will take it easy...Keeping quiet and passing the buck wouldnt work PM. A cool guy must take decisive action to get it done. You arent new in the cabinet so there is no excuse at all though your supporters say otherwise. The next election is about a year away and you needed time to tell us..................sorry PM you aren't have much time just walk the talk and things will be fine.

Two Barison leaders to retire? Keng Yaik said he would step down next year. He has been saying for a number of years that he wants to retire. This time I think he will step down and pave the way for Tsu Koon to take over the presidency in Gerakan. Samy said he would when the time is right. I think he should follow Keng Yaik and retire next year too. He had already kicked out Subramaniam, his deputy for the last 25 years and he shouldnt say otherwise. I say Subra should make a come back in 2009 for the president post. He will be only 64 years old which I think should be the right time to lead MIC. The current crop of MIC leaders are beholding to Samy.They can't say NO. These crop of leaders shouldnt be around in MIC. They should retire too and let the new team walks the talk. Maika and Telekom shares arent explained in detail on what happen to the shares. So the new leader should shade some light on it. Now Dr Mahathir went on his critical comments on the current government under Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. He must have something to tell the nation. He wont simply open his mouth and say something without knowing the facts. This is Dr Mahathir. I want to know and so are many people in the country. The PM doesnt walk the talk. His supporters and cronies say he has done it. Look around. The police thumb nose at him. The AG takes so long to recommend his view on IPCMC. Mind you he was given a year to do it. But he failed. Awarded the contract for the scenic bridge that cancelled it after 3 months. The issue of AP permits hidden in the closet. No positive answer to the rakyat. How could 2 Malays corner the APs market and make them a tycoon? What reasons they get the APs? Dr Mahathir must be shaking his head in disbelief. Though he admitted he made mistakes during his tenure as PM, he couldn't stomach what Abdullah is doing....he appointed him as his successor. Keng Yaik shadow playing days will be over next year and my bet Samy will stay until 2009. He hasnt finished his agendas for the Indian community...and I dont think he will. He should the cue from the MCA president. He said if you can't finish in 3 terms you never will and let a new person takes over. MCA did the right move by limiting the president term to 9 years. By then the president should have done what he plans for the party and chinese community.

subramaniam lost

Subramaniam lost in his bid to retain his deputy president post. All the president's men won in this election. I feel sad for the Indians. There won't be any uplifting for these people. They will be as they are now - receive only the minimum to survive in the National Front. Subramaniam is more likely to get more if he were to be president one day. He is more friendly towards UMNO which is a plus sign for the party. Yet the delegates didnt cast their votes. They dont see beyond the years the president keeps telling the same story - give him to help them. But he does it on his own whims and his own time. Arrogant, combative, doesnt want to follow rules if he can. He tries to evade issues in his aggresssive style. In time the Indians will realize they will lose a capable leader in Subramaniam. He is a party loyalist and the delegates didnt send a clear message to the president. End of the road for Subramaniam. Maybe he should try one last time in the next election.

why stop asking for 60 days maternity?

Shahrizat wants a 60 days maternity leave for married women or single parent. On the onset it is good to tie up with the public sector. In fact most union agreements have a 60 days maternity leave for married women. I think if it changes the Labour Laws then most workers will benefit but currently I see it is with the family runs businesses that does not follow with the unionised workers. These workers work long hours with less pay less benefits. I can understand the view of the owners. Some family run businesses are not doing so well but they need to survive because it is the daily bread and butter for them. Currently the companies or sole enterprises want to survive and people want job to feel a sense of belonging not with those benefits when they can't be employed in the first place. Job opportunities must be there for the people to choose. We hear of unemployed graduates not suitable for job applied or choosy or can't communicate with confidence. And the tax payers need to golf out more money to retrain these graduates. And we forget about those we discontinue their studies after SPM/STPM...not every one can progress to universities. I dont hear of helping out these secondary students. In time these people who will be bad hats in our society if we hold the view that less educated people will cause more troubles in the country..So why fight for 60 days maternity leave when there are many problems affecting the unemployed people? The money to retrain them can be used to set up businesses for these unemployed graduates or secondary school leavers to work with. In the end they will acquire skills to run a business themselveas. Set up a cash crop enterprise where money making is much easier in a short term planning. Set up a few companies for different products and use these graduate skills and labour intensive skills of the secondary school leavers....in this way there is a way for them to learn the tools of a business..

Siti and Dato K is going to get married. The press had rumoured for so long that every one already knew. Siti needed the publicity to boost her record sales. This was a good PR exercise but she shouldn't pick a wrong guy to get married. She has her own finances and I am sure she can pick a better person than Dato K. Last month Dato K was caught with his ex-wife. It was reported in the Star newspaper. He said something his divorce was not final yet so he could sleep with his (ex) wife. A singer shouldnt get married in the 20s. She should get married after 30s. By then these singers/musicians will be matured in her/his personal affairs. I think entertainers should be free of distractions. Likewise if they choose wrong partners their careers will be over. In Malaysia this is what happening. Get married no career. Pick your choice entertainers. Yusry and Erra Fazira married in 20s divorced in 30s Sad episode really after the grand wedding no fairy tales ending after 3 years.

Samy didnt show up to PAC. He must have something to hide. This arrogant minister shows no respect to PM and PAC. By now PAC chairman should take up Samy's challenges and refer him to Parliamentary Discipline Committee. The short cut will be for him to leave the cabinet. PM should make a decisive action on his errant minister(s) He should walk his talk. Now we have a few ministers who do not care. They forget they are elected by the people for the people and not for themselves or their cronies. In this public arrogance Samy has to go. He shouldnt be in the cabinet either. A leader must know where to draw the line. He must set an example. He must know his perimeter. He can't act he likes and does as he likes. I am not a supporter of MIC. I support leader(s) who can do a proper job for the country and people. I dont see leaders who will fight for the nation and people. Will the PM take appropriate measures on Samy? He should do it to build up his reputation as a cool guy with an iron heart too. Tomorrow's MIC election I hope the delegates will vote out Samy's elite. These people are there to prop him up and get the projects.....the 1,441 delegates should send a clear signal to Samy that he and his team didnt help the Indians. Too many excuses which finally the Indians suffer. Let Subramaniam gets his chance to lead the party in a year or two. Samy must retire after this election when his team loses it all.

Thieves break ins through back doors. Most of the house owners spend alot of money to beef up security of the houses but they forget about the back doors. Normally the back door areas they convert it into modern wet kitchens. They build back doors with steel doors and that about they spend money on it. They dont put extra latches on the back doors. Some put grilled frames on the windows which I think it helps to prevent break-ins but the back doors itself thieves find it easy to break through. If a house has too many doors, it is advisable that the back door should be concrete up - no back door in the wet kitchen area just with windows and grilled frames - which I think will deter the thief to break-in the house. And dont forget to install CCTV in the house. Of course you have to spend a few thousand dollars to feel secured in your own house. Dont pinch on security. Life and valuables are too important to mess it up. Some people never want to learn at all. "Penny saved pound foolish" Look thieves are many. Every one is trying to find easy money. Statistics on drug addicts arent encouraging and many people are jobless...many things can happen. When you read newspapers advertisements, job applicant must have a degree speak a few languages...Tell me what about those who have no degree?
These are the people who would be the potential thieves not that they wanted to but the need to survive. When there is no job available, events can be very emotional. Look at the pregnant woman stealing in the supermarket. When she is caught she would say she has no job but a baby to feed. Can we blame her for stealing? Our conscious couldn't condemn her. Likewise when it happens to our own houses, can we blame the thieves? Or the government? Or the companies?
Or the thieves for becoming lazy and good for nothing? Hardly. It is our own system for not establishing a trust fund to help those in needs. We can contribute $10 a month. Imagine the amount collected in our workforce. It is a good theory which could be made into reality. Don't tell nobody can't give $10 every month?

The ulamas dont agree. Religions and celebrations shouldnt mix in the cauldron. It brings fire unnecessary to the people. Is it a pagan celebration? Is it so celebrating on a particular religion? One has to look at overall theme of kongsi raya. This is a celebration of people sharing joy and food and drink throw in some music to enlighten the night. If it brings peace to mankind, then it shouldn't be wrong to celebrate. If it doesnt worship any idol of any kind during the occasion, why should the ulamas interfere. Theology remains as such platform. Involving the like minded people to debate and share views which it can't wash down as the truth. God/Allah has given us enough to last many thousand years to digest what He intends us to do. God/Allah wants peace on mankind. He doesn't want bloodshed or wrong signals to incite hatreds amongst fellow humans. Currently Islam is viewed in a very bad light. All because of the ulamas who dont know the difference of peace and war. Jihad is to improve oneself and on extension to family members and on extension to the community and state then the world. There shouldnt be any life lost in pursued of Jihad. The ulamas called it a different tune...which reminds me of what Jesus(pbuh) said in his ministry 'every wolf in sheep clothing' influencing the people that it is the word of God..When the ulamas have their own agendas, the people should be aware of them. They aren't the prophets neither they are God chosen people.

We have Najib supporting these ulamas. What he was thinking? On one hand he says we are living in the multi-religious background and multi-cultural settings sharing our open houses to show each other hospitality...then he dropped a bombshell on kongsi raya. So when PM said kongsi raya would go on, I pity Najib for not reading the sentiments of the people. Will he become a good PM one day? The way he is conducting himself I guess he will find it hard to become one. He has to remember Malaysia is not for the Malays. Currently the Malays are the majority race in the country but Malaysia is not theirs alone!! I just don't like them to say fighting for the race....what about the other races in the country? The way they always say I think it will be a long way to call ourselves truly MALAYSIAN

Selangor will have another city status in Petaling Jaya this June. It shouldnt declare anymore city status. It has become a norm that eventually every town will become a city. It should tell the people that a 'city status' carries weight and rules and regulations including laws are properly done and benefitted the city dwellers. It isn't good just to change the name and the poor delivery system is the tired old horse. Basically the funding will increase in a city status category likewise property taxes and levy too will change in tandem with a city status. I see that nothing really will change in Petaling Jaya. You just wake up 'Wah...city already!' Anything new for PJ?

Now Appac will file report against MPPJ for misappropriation of money by its Sports and Cultural Club. And a memorandum was sent to its president advicing him not to sign on the privatised bill board advertising to a consortium of 3 companies. The little napoleans will not care what the people in PJ are going to do. They are the 'Lord' over the people and they dont take views from the people. They know it is tax payer money they are spending and they laugh at the people 'You can't do anything to us!' People perception have changed. They want better quality services and healthy environement to live. The officials responsible for taking care of the areas should be proactive and listen to people grouses. The MPPJ president too must talk the walk. He shouldnt sit in the office all the times. He should walk around PJ and see for himself what is happening in his district. If it is too hot, he could do it at night. He shouldnt think of 8-4 cycle. He should spend hours on his turf. This is his responsibility which he couldnt delegate to his officers. He has to know. To me he can do it every month which I dont think it is difficult as part of his working routine.

I read today's newspaper on student molesters in school. This wasnt a new thing in school. It had gone for many years that students are not well behaved in schools. The Education Ministry and school boards new about indiscipline amongst students. So when this new item hit in the newspaper, I thought the authorities never put plans into action. Long time ago it was the gangs in schools. I doubt they had brought it under control except now the schools kept it within its compounds. A few years ago I read a school teacher caught 2 form six students had sex in the lab. What happened after that it wasnt saying anything. Every time when I read about molesting and raping the authorities are quick to point to pornography or materials related to sex. Aren't we all engaged in sex in our lives? It is the upbringing in the homes and in schools. One can see thousand of those shows, read books or magazines it doesnt mean one will become a sex maniac attacking the females or vice versa.....It boils down to our behaviour and thinking. It doesnt do with what one sees or reads. To me it is too hollow to pin the blame on these sexual crimes. Read it in history. It happens in ancient times without all these candid materials in circulation. It boils down to one's reach in maturity and parents and teachers who take part in the children's development. I am wondering when the authority is going to introduce sex education in schools. Are they too shy to teach? When I was in secondary school, my scout teacher used to talk to us about sex and copulation. When I looked back at least we got a basic grounding through our scout master. I met him many years ago and he related this story to me. My junior in school got married. He couldnt perform his sexual obligation to his wife. This former student called the scout master telling him his problem. Because the scout master opened up to his students. So this was how he could teach them about sex eventhough the guy just got married. He adviced him to masturbate before having sex with his wife. It worked perfectly! The next morning he called his former teacher to thank him for his advice. Even adults are facing problems in sex education. It is high time this subject should be taught in schools.

Now on this current case, no parent should blame the school. No school principle should hide from the fact that it did happen. Advice must be tampered with sincerity. We can't make them an anti-social misfit which will become worst for the general public. Tell them the truth of their actions and make them aware of what they do is wrong without consent. Face the truth. Face the fact. Everything will be fine eventually.

PAC - show your fangs

Works Ministry Minister irked by the tactics of PAC. This body is elected by MPs themselves to check and find out what happenings or goings in the government ministries. Here we have a minister shooting stars at PAC. He is part of the MPs elected by the people. So he should answer the questions pose by PAC. The minister was combative and arrogant. I should believe PAC should take him to the MP's Committee to view his case. And the PM should have taken note of his Cabinet members. I dont need a minister who is uncooperate and abusive to the PAC. He is on tax payers payroll and elected by the people for the people not for him or his people or anybody else. The PAC has a job to do. And all ministers should attend meetings when they are called to answer on the projects or moneys spend or allocation or projects delayed...

We have a cool PM but I think he can't make a positive response until he studies all reports....And in the meantime his little napoleans will create havoc in his administration. Doesnt he know it by now?

MIC election 3

MIC election heated up. As far as I know there is no party president campaigned so hard to vote out his deputy. In the bygone days of political fallout in MCA, Gerakan and UMNO, I didnt find the party president fought so hard to vote out his deputy. Only in MIC I find the party president always going out to kill off his deputy. He did try so many times but he failed in his attempt. Now he is going all out to make sure his deputy is out of the party. He always says he needs more time to help the Indians. He is already there for over 2 decades yet he couldnt finish what he wants to help the Indians. He doesnt want to go. He wants to be on top though he has served his time. He isnt helping the Indians. He is helping his own people to prosper at the expense of the Indian people in general. Many professionals dont like him. I talked to one police officer who said MIC president should go a long time ago. He shouldnt be around. He couldnt help the Indians even if he stays until he is 100 years old. What I read in the newspapers this time his deputy would have a tough time to sail through. But in the wisdon of 1,441 delegates in the assembly I believe he will survive with a majority of 246 votes. This will signal the president that his time is up and he has to go out in retirement. Let the new man takes his flight. His preferred choice Palanivel claimed it is time to change....I think he should have guts to say time to change the MIC committee not only a deputy president because he is contesting as a candidate. This politician never has the gut to say becauses of losing out position and values in the post. Subramaniam always back up by UMNO(new) during the term of Dr Mahathir. Since the latter had retired, MIC president mounted his heated campaigns to oust his deputy. Because he felt this time he has his golden chance to kill off his deputy once and for all.

Sukma sodomy charges quashed by Courts of Appeal. Ordered a retrial for him. Sukma had maintained all along that he was forced to write his sodomy activities by the police. Now that he has his retrial.....I will wait for the outcome of his case. I always say that cooked up cases will not last in the test of time. Somehow new evidence will suffice to renew or review the cases filed against the defendants. Now, perhaps Dr Mahathir willl be summoned as a witness in this trial.

In the city rumours were going around that Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will sack Dr Mahathir from UMNO. I dont quite believe the rational if this happens. Abdullah should show gratitude to the man who helped him back to main stream of UMNO politics. Now it is time for revenge....not only for him but also Razaleigh and Musa Hitam?? The bitter memory of yesteryears still haunt these leaders. Politics has no enemy or friend. It's relationship never lasts long.

In the Federal Court appeal of death sentence, the Supreme Court upheld the Appeals Court decision on the death sentence of a murder case. However, the man had died in prison from a fall. Why merit that sentence again? Can't the Federal Court say the man has died and so there is no decision to be made? Because laws must be followed? Man's laws can't stand the test of time...because the foundation is weak which is used to serve those in powers....the weak will pay.

Finally I hear old women to gamble with the World Cup fever. What they know about football? I guess gambling has no rules....but it is a pity that these old women should indulge into this habit. Today I heard someone won his bet on football of over $15,000/- and he didnt go to work. He was celebrating his winning...

My house is still unoccupied. It is going for some final touches. The concrete fencing upgraded with additional concrete bars to block0ut cats from entering to the garden to shit. It is also to prevent thieves from climbing over the concrete fence. Lately my neighour informed me that a group of people are watching my house at night. It starts around 9-10pm each night. My neighbour told me these are not good people. I am on alert. My new house has alot of new things displaying around. I haven't done much to put in the correct settings. Although I have put up grilled doors on the main door and windows and CCTV around the house, I shouldnt feel over confident that thieves will ignore my house. Because whole day it is left empty. Now at night I go to sleep there. Afterall all air-conditioned units put up and mattresses and divans had arrived. Now I need to put up curtains which will be sometimes though. I ran out of curtain rings. My kitchen half completed because the man keeps giving excuses....so currently I dont have a clue yet. When this is done, the plumber has to finish his work. He needs to adjust the auto gate mechanism too. He can do many things. After which I must call back the painters to retouch the house and the concret wall to paint. The final run will be the LCD TVs, home theatre system, kitchen utensils, glasses, plates, cups, blenders...whatever...I am not shifting my goods in my other house. It will remain there always. Day time I will go back there or in case relatives or friends need to stay over....Now I have to play detective to watch who are these guys watching my house. My detective told me two days that he stopped two Indonesian guys torch lighting my house. He told them to go because they told him they were working as security guards..I know there is an Indian guy who provides private security services around the neighbourhood at night...I havent contacted him for his services. So I should be aware of the Indonesian guys....because most crimes here are committed by them( sorry I dont have the numbers only what happened to my relatives)

Now at night I go sleep in my new house. Day time in my old house. In between surfing the net. What a day for me! Feeling the freedom only if I dont break any law of the country

answers Mr Prime Minister

Dr M asked for answers from the current administration. I too want to know what is happening in the country. The 9th Malaysia Plan launched and it is so quiet now. I think they are studying how to go about it. Thinking about 10th Malaysia Plan...and the little napoleans nibbling on the cake....many sweetness to taste the good life..When will the PM visit Immigration Dept again? Beginning there was much publicity made on the spot announcements then quiet down. What about IRB? Very efficient in collecting taxes from the companies and taxpayers, fine here find there but come to refund IRB is dragging its feet. The PM shouldnt extend the contract of the current director general. He should get someone new to head the department. The double railway tracks suddenly no news about the project. Even the bridge project in Johore was cancelled after awarding the contract. It makes me wonder the grip of running the country is by whom....Now the country has to pay compensation worth over $100million. It is the way he conducted the affairs of the country? The PM wants report to study then more reports to read...he has to make decisions a quick one too. People need the confidence in his administration. So when Dr M hit back at the administration every cabinet minister came to defend the PM. These ministers should wake up and see. Dr M was their boss 3 years ago now retired. So he should know what he is talking about. I believe a good leader will leave behind enough funds for the projects initiated in his time. There shouldnt be none at all. These cabinet members including the current PM were Dr M's ministers then. They participated on these projects and were aware of the costs involved. They should read the cabinet minutes..Now we had seen everything had gone up - toll charges, petrol hike, electricity hike and water hike. Now I have to hike myself to the sky.....

Some admire the PM for his silence but I think he dares not say. His advisors will spin a different story...It is over for me. He should have launched his campaigns and pulled in the results within 2 years. Now he has lost his credibility. He should retire some of the ministers.

It just show how ungrateful some of these ministers are. At one time they were reporting to Dr M and now they asked him to shut up. I prefer Dr M to speak out so that I can learn what's wrong hitting the country. No one is perfect but answers must be given. It shouldnt hide behind the publicity campaigns to pull wool over our eyes.

The PM knows of asking report. This is what he did. The latest tragedy in Ulu Klang he did the same thing.Write report! I dont think I want report neither is the people affected by the tragedy. The people require appropriate measures to haul up the parties responsible for the tragedy. Dont MPAJ learn already? The president of MPAJ should be removed from his chair. What he said during the dialogues with the reporters showed he has no ikling what he said. Lives lost. He should open his eyes to see. No development on hillslopes. In 1993 Highland Towers rocked the nation. Yet MPAJ was cleared off negligence. The Federal Court should fine and send the officers to jail. These officers shouldnt hide behind a piece of legislation absolving them of liability. In this case I want to be in their shoes. Why not? Bolih cari makan lagi. I remember a former Army Chief house collapsed around the area under MPAJ. It was on a hillslope. Abdullah administration has no direction to lead the country. The 9th Plan will not get going. His little napoleans will create layers of nuisance which will delay the projects. Because the PM says there will 10th, 11th or 12th plan....This tells me he has no direction for the nation. He has to stay focus of doing his job. If projects need to get it done in 5 years, he should get it complete in 5 years!

No wonder our former PM Tun Dr Mahathir got cheesed off with the current PM. I agreed with Dr Mahathir that promises make should be made to fruition. This is the gentleman's agreement..it doesnt need to write it down. The word is the honour. Otherwise one has committed a serious sin. Last year he gave the promise that the IPCMC will be implemented by 31/5/06. The AG would study the report and forward his views/recommendations to the Cabinet. You know what? The AG is still studying it after one year. Priority never in these people vocabulary. Sorry I feel this is what I think. Report and report.....when will it end?

June 24,2006 D-day for Subra. Palanivel got 185 nominations Subra 2. He is the current deputy president of MIC. Palanivel is the vice president. Samy wants Palanivel to be his deputy. In announcing his dream team, Samy becomes the campaign manager for Palanivel. The president decides his nominated people and henceforth the 1,441 delegates do not have to vote. Why travel to KL to vote when Samy decides who should be with him not the delegates? I hope the delegates vote in Subra signaling to Samy that he has to go. He is 70 years old. Why can't he let a younger person runs MIC? What read through the many letters many Indian professionals never have a thing for Samy. As a result MIC dwindles in the eyes of National Front Partners. Last time Samy nominated Dr SS Subramaniam then the vice president of MIC to contest against Datuk Subramaniam but Dr Subramaniam lost in his bid although strongly supported by Samy. So in this connection I hope history will repeat again. Let Subramaniam retains his post as deputy president of MIC signaling the end of Samy. High time he retires with Tun Ling and Dr Mahathir...Samy can't help the Indians.He has to let someone takes over to run MIC.

A good leader must know the time to go. Samy never does. So in the end the Indians will lose again in the economic cake of the country.

Currrently the government officers are demolishing illegal temples in Selangor. Palanivel as the Selangor chief never go out to help. Every one is quiet. What happen to champion for the Indians?

Once a Muslim always a Muslim. This is the law of the country. Like the Socso, once a member always a member no matter what position one holds in the company; he/she has to contribute to Socso. Nobody can run away from it. A Muslim - man or woman - can't change religion to suit marriage. It is the other party would have to convert. Period. Otherwise there is no binding marriage in the eyes of the syariah law. Even the High Court is reluctant to make any ruling on religious faith especially on Islam. There is a case pending in the High Court regarding a Muslim woman who wanted to become Christian. In fact she had denounced her Islamic faith and embraced Christianity. No doubt the Federal Constitution guarantees religious freedom to all the people, in reality it is different altogether. Other religious faiths have no laws to bide them. They can change any time they feel the need to change without the hassle of religious officers ticking them or charge them in syariah court. Ayah Pin is another religious cult who had disappeared since the authority clamped him down for spreading falsehood in his sermons. His community is pursued by the religious officers and some are brought to court to answer charges......for establishing a religion against the tenets of Islamic teachings. Islam is a peaceful religion yet the way it has been said, it has become a battle cry to commit sin for the wrong reasons to suit certain leaders' ambitions.

Why God create so many religions? If not Him, then who makes it many? At one time we all speak in one tongue then God changed it to many languages (Holy Bible) Through Muhammad(pbuh) He sent the Arabic language to His people.....another language of so many in the market. It is His way to test the market? To me He is trying to confuse His people but the aim is the same to richly rewarded for doing good deeds...

losses through thefts

Utility companies lost over $74million on thefts of wiring cables and other products. Every year these companies claimed that they lost a few millions through theft. The question is why these companies never installed CCTV in their premises and employed guards to patrol the premises. As what the Pas Government in Kelantan says the party wanted to audit the TNB management for increasing the electricity hike of 12% on 1/6/06. Aren't we, as the tax-payers paid for the losses of these companies? TNB for example always declared making profit over $1billion and yet the company wants to hike its rates citing the burden of $30billion loans. Now why borrowed so much money and yet causing frequent breakdowns? As one former TNB officer said it was outright wastages of funds and wrong management people sitting on the company. IWK another GLC of the government which was a failure in the privitization project and the Federal Government had to bailed it out. I think the bosses of these companies arent walking the talk. They are working in the offices fogetting about field audit of the many offices/branches in the country and employing many deadwood who just bleed every penny in the company's coffers. These CEOs should routinely audit the staff throughout the country. In doing so I believe they can reduce wastage and know the real problems affecting the companies. Walk the roads where you find the answers to all the losses running to millions..

time sharing blues

Time sharing concept for business. Just beware how you are approached. The sales agents will pitch it until you pay for it. Promises of many things but in the end empty cans only. Money gone a taste of sour in the mouth. Crying serves no purpose. Loss of income and adventures. Some companies rent hotel rooms to sell be it 5 star hotels or 3 star hotels. Name it they sell it to you. The news coverage by NST told how many people were short changed in buying time sharing business. Every purchaser has a 10 days cooling off period but how many really get their monies back? It is so difficult to get your refund. (Same with our IRB for excess tax payments. Write letters, personal visits many times and yet promises here and there and no refund!) You can still see the sales agents promoting this time sharing concept in the supermarkets. Printed beautiful brochures and enticing sales pitches to entice the would be customers. I say watch out and study it in your leisure time until you are satisfied with the promotions and the company. Every company will say it is belonging to an Association and so it is concrete evidence it is not a fly by night operations. On the safe side dont let go of your money yet. Study the company. It helps you to make a firm decision then. Even some hotel groups have joined in the band wagon to promote their own resorts on time sharing basis. At least these hotel groups you can find them easily....but the rest I think you should walk with caution.

economy of the country

The PM said that the economy would be at 6%. It is good for the country if the government is honest and transparent. Giving out statistics doesnt show that the country has sustained the cushion of any external attacks on her economy. I always view statistics with caution because it never tells you the real term in dollar and sense. Say the business improved by % over the same period last year. But if you study the figures, it shows a jump of say $20,000 which by itself is insignificant. Actually it doesnt improve on the strength of the company fundamentals. Likewise in our country economy one should study in monetary values to picture the gains of her economy. If you read in the newspapers, banks will auction 400 properties in June in KL. Likewise in the motorcar industry, finance companies are auctioning motor vehicles worth over $1billion to the public. So in a sense I dont quite believe in numbers in %. It should be in real terms pegged against the current trend happening in the sectors. Even in Penang many houseowners surrendered their properties to the banks for failure to service their housing loans. I also saw in Perak abandoned properties. Some were sitting there for over 10 years...

Let it be fair. We wish the economy is really improving for the benefits of the nation and her people. Sometimes political speech should be excercise with extreme caution. They always say different things everyday. Think hard for a minute. Our pockets are full of small change owing to the hikes of toll, petrol and electricity. Economy improved? I wonder at this stage.

the match makers

A Pennsylavia woman sued a pricey match maker and won US2 million. Will it happen here for the match makers? Bad dates and or wrong persons delivered. On the surface these match makers claimed they are professionals in their area of work. On this assumption they should screen and select the best candidates for dates to their clients. There shouldnt be second best or 3rd best suitors. Because you pay for a service and as such the dating agency should provide the best for you. I know nothing of the match makers here. I only see it advertise in newspapers or internet. Will the people sue them for wrong dates or wrong profiles on their dates? I know of suing broken promise to marry or broke off engagement but of dates I am in total darkness here. Perhaps Asians have not come to the stage as yet. Maybe with this case in USA, it may trigger a similar awareness amongst the people who use dating services to procure life partners or friendship. In the dating game so many make believe scenarios to woo the potential dates. Just walk on the rope with extra caution. You never know at the end of the line...

The Avian flu worries the WHO in Indonesia. The agenda seemed to fall on the deaf ears of the local councils to protect the people. It was reported there are 450 district councils and the power rested in these officials to do something positive in fighting Avian flu(bird flu) Now with the disaster in Yogjakarta, the measures needed to confine the advance of Avian flu will take a back step towards containment of the deadly virus. Malaysia government should be on alert at all times. We are neighbors across the Straits of Malacca where the migration of birds are easily sighted into our shores. Currently there is no news about latest development of bird flu in the country. By tomorrow we can sigh a sense of release. The government will declare we are free of bird flu but with the latest developments in Indonesia we should practise caution with live birds.

And there is another 'bird flu' menace in our country. The police force reluctant to accept the concept of IPCMC to regulate its operations. In other words these police top brass are afraid of losing their control of power. I dont think IPCMC is taking away its power base. The police force is to protect the nation and her people. It is not established to push the agendas of the political master at all or to serve their own interests. They are the civil servants paid through the tax-payers coffer and as such they shouldnt feel threatened in accepting the IPCMC. The way these officers posted in their website is tantamount to challenging the government who pays for their services through the tax-payers' money. I rather the police force should be rationale and be more professional discharging their duties delegated to them by the government elected by the people. Follow the rules and the laws. For those who can't accept it, they should resign. They dont have the interest of the nation and her people in their hearts and minds. Why remain? Every time a person leaves or resigns, there is somebody to come forward to replace. It is the natural law of replacement. You dont like your job yet somebody will...

report and report so what's new?

The deadline for IPCMC is today. The AG is still studying it. The PM said he is waiting for the legal department to advice him. And the meantime, the police was against it. As was reported in the police website. When an order has been given, all followers must carry out the instruction. There shouldnt be any delaying tactic to slow its process. Every one must be open to new rules and regulations. We can't forever work in the old clothes all the time. As years go on, new inventions come into play. So is the new way of doing business. The police tends find ways to go against its implementation. For once they should remember they work for the people since it is tax payer's income which goes towards their work done. The police shouldnt act as if they are above the laws and the people. No way. The PM should insist it should be done and for those who refuse the order, he should retire them. Why wait for report? And report? We want action PM. Words are cheap and easy to buy. Every one can do that. It is action that made the melody.

Look at last Sunday peaceful demonstration turned ugly. Police injured the demonstrators. They should allow them to proceed peacefully. No...they wanted to show who are the bosses in this...As a result many people were injured.

They are many murders, rapists, robbers, terrorists and commercial crime robbers for the police to act on them. These peaceful demonstration on the fuel hike, power hike and what's not should be allowed to proceed without any interference from the police. Yet the police couldnt handle it. Like in Thailand. Thousands and thousands yet it was peaceful show of protest..

Fascinating life....on earth it is the paradise. Just dont forget about it. In the future, it is hard to predict what it will be like. Of course the scriptures written by men to paint a glorious home....which no one has seen it or return to narrate stories about the place. We can only try to imagine....I can only say it should be like earth. This is where paradise kept life going. Society makes life difficult to enjoy our fruits on earth. You see so many obstacles in our ways. Even in work you find the harsh truths about it. Greed and corruption. No compassion. Lies and deceit. So you see things move differently which make life sad. In this context you hear people commit suicides, lose hope and faith, can't believe in this world and every one is a liar and a cheat....The negative vibes roll out life. On earth is the paradise. The preparation for what heaven will be like....only thing is nobody could tell us convincingly....Yet we always believe there is something special that we were born to do. But no one can say it positively...

water hike

The PM wanted us to walk with him. And you know what we got from him? Price of essential goods got higher! And the statement from Putrajaya 'we take care of the lower income groups'
Seriously are the government doing it? First we had the toll hike. Then the petrol hike. Before the dust could settle we had the electricity hike. Lately from Perak water bill hike of 15%. The MB said the same thing as it was with Putrajaya. The welfare of the lower income groups are taken off. Arent we all paid for our essential goods? This is trying to cover our eyes with sweet talking words painted beautifully to entice our eyes. In the end as consumers/rakyat we will be asked to absorb the cost of goods increase. As usual the minister will come out with all kind of excuses except axe those deadwoods or those who can't perform. Last Sunday bloody demonstrations had taken the authorities to task. It was suppose to be a peaceful demonstration but then it turned ugly with police condoning their actions. Whose fault would that be? The PM words still ring true first class facilities with 3rd class mentality So I guess it would be for a long time. The Cabinet doesnt flow with the statement. And the PM forgot what he said. In the end the rakyat are at the mercey of the little napoleans running the daily affairs in the country...

My silent prayers to those died in the Indonesian earthquake. Current death toll was 4,000. We are neighbours divide by the Straits of Malacca. Yet we are bless with Allah's guidance to spare us the ugly faces of death. After awhile we tend to forget. Memories fade so fast that we can't remember the sad episode.Tsunami has become a distant memory.....so now every one flocks to the seas....they dont think about the sudden strong waves....Life has to go on living!

Looking at the pictures, I feel sad indeed. What sins that we make until God's fury came. Perhaps we did many wrongs in this world. Wrong interpretations of His Words resulting in different ways to live. Yet we have to live to get the punishment for our transgressions...Sad.

In His Grace we live for now. Learn our lessons and pick it up from there. Tomorrow will come and the sun will shine and the moon will glow her magic....

charity walks the talk

A chief monk in Ipoh was disrobed. A police team went to investigate on a report filed by the chairman of the temple committee on threat to his life. During the course of the police raid, they found the chief monk with a naked woman in the temple and some pornographic materials. The temple committee told the chief monk to leave the temple within a month. The chief monk had been staying in the temple for the past 27 years...now he is in his late forties. Now where is the compassion? He is human and has his flaws. Though he made his life mistakes, he should be forgiven. This is the hardest test for society to believe in the talk 'love thy neighour' Even Jesus (pbuh) and Mohammad(pbuh) forgave sinners. There must a line of forgiveness on transgressions of the people. Prophets were humans too. They werent perfect. They too asked forgiveness in their praying...When we talk about charity, it goes beyond mere words of wisdom. It is the action that made the man/woman. I always remember that every human has his/her flaws. No one should run away with it. Face up to the weaknesses and life will be easy to live with. Most of us have been following the teachings of the prophets.....you think it is right way to salvation? A company has its articles of association and its memorandum yet there are faults though it is written in legal jargon...so at times it seeks legal amendments to justify doing certain projects not listed in its framework...God's words is final.....

Oh...the cost of living is still low! Our status compare with the African nations. The mentality of our Cabinet leaders who are afraid to compare the Southern neighbour. I have been reading the factory manufactured words through the years. Yet most people just flow with it. Only when the pockets feel the pinch then I hear the protests.....You think it will last long? It will go in whimper and disappear from their radar screens. We dare not change the present government at all. We feel we are comfortable with the government. Look at the Sarawak election, the same government was shot to power. Promises never make it. Every election the same slogan change context to woo the people. After that it is forgotten again. Only in speeches to smoothen the passage and the rest leave it to the PR gurus to their jobs.

Only a few days ago before PM left to Eygpt, he said he defered the hike of power decision. Tasked the TNB to study the lower income group. Now we read it had increased the electricity by 12% effective 1/6/06. Can you imagine TNB get its facts so fast? Money is the motivating factor after all though many have not agreed. It is used to pay its huge debt of $30 billion...because of its wastage and lack of management expertise in managing the utility company. It is a failure as far as I am concerned.

Privatisation never works in the long run. It benefits certain group of people and the tax payers will be the ultimate sufferers...

The cost of goods will increase no matter what the government has to say.....

on the wrong road

We always see bad guys get the best. They seem to have the raw mechanism to draw out the desire of the women. They show how macho they are. Perhaps bravery inks the capturing heart. When your parent says dont go with So and So. They are bad, children. Yet they watch with despairing eyes....the children do the opposite. I had watched during my kampong days how these people magnet the women. Charismatic way wins the woman's heart. Although these guys arent the boy next door type, they have the pull and they know it. And the women.....fall for them. Look in the night clubs, lounges or the walk by cafes you can see the action moves. The glory in whisper which tickles the heart of women. The desire to be in the winning parade. But it is only in the short term of their lives. Pretty soon most women grow out of it but some have gone down the road with these bad guys....

the cake

The cake is baked. Every hungry child waits. The mouth watery eyes eager to hit the scene. Thinking about the sweet aroma oozing out in the oven. The hands clenched and opened trying desperately hard to control. When one is hungry, everything eatable will do. So how hungry are we? The government is baking cake. The citizens wait in line. Will it come? Or somebody hijacks it away? Patience brings success albeit at a slower pace but in the end it brings character to the one who practises it. Currently the smell of cake springs forth many hungry children knocking at the door. Will they get it? Somebody will make a killing in bundles as long as the delivery system is not changed.

A leader should know his time is up. Or aged has reached its limit. He should go happily and pass the baton to a new leader. Let him takes it to the forefront. A parent will let go of children after reaching a certain age. The children when grow up too will move on. The parents should let go the power of over them. The children have become adults. The game has changed hands.

american idol 5

Taylor Hicks and Katherine Mcphee entered the final of American Idol. Before when the 24 were announced, I thought this group could be different. When I watched the programmes then, some were really outstanding with their voices. Like Mandisa, Paris, Bucky, Chris, Katherine and Elliot. Infact I predicted that Bucky and Katherine could enter in the final. Well..I got one right. Bucky was knocked into the final 12. But I though Paris too could race to the final after watching her for so many weeks. But she was booted out by the public responses. I believe she could go far in her singing career. But Chris was the sad one to leave. He did very well in this competition showing his vocal skills in Rock songs but he was knocked out at No:4. Infact I thought Taylor Hicks would go out earlier but he survived and entered into the final 2. Maybe he has the look of George Clooney....Katherine towards the end faltered in her singing. Yet she survived because of her look and her smile. I think she won her fans over many times.

My final verdict will be Taylor Hicks. He has the charisma and the older people will like him dance...Katherine will be remain second best unless the public response breaks the rules again

the mind is the culprit

What is gone, it is gone. No use crying or thinking about it. Sure it hurts to remember. Pain is the cause of the bruising night. Imagine it let it grows then chop it off and start anew. Yesterday's news let it be that, today's is something needed to do and tomorrow a new chapter starts to unfold. Many spend so much on yesterday's trying to figure out how to make it better yet the premise is gone so there is nothing really to make in the end. Today's one forgets and so misses the chance to make something out of it. Only leaving tomorrow's which is there to catch the rainbow...The mind is the culprit burning flames of yesterday's story. Dont let it swings over. There must be a line to make a difference. The events is in the hands of one who needed to make a difference. Use it. Make it happens. Dont worry. Let the shine comes and there be merry!

death by the door

Death comes at any time. It has no time frame. It doesnt give notice. It happens. It brings a life to an end. Period. We have a fixed time to play, to learn, to earn, to live, to pray, to search for truth or wealth and along the way make many mistakes/sins to forge ourselves ahead. Death is forever walking by the door....no bell toll no soft wind blowing no time to say goodbye....It comes at the most unappropriate time......so one has to seek good fortunes, smile to people, say thank you and learn to accept criticisms and learn to forgive too. I was calculating this morning....one has to spend 13 years in secondary school, another 3/4 years in university then out to learn a living maybe at aged 24 years then in a hurry to settle down and work it up from there. Procuring wealth and greed of money forgetting the basic wealth, then children come along, delay weath takings, family comes first work longer hours. After which things change.Perception blinds the eyes. Things come to a standstill. Emotions roller coaster rides. Never know what to expect next. Greed comes to nudge the mind. Emotional stress slowly kicks in. One forgets about basic living...All the while in a hurry to earn wealth. Going for the good life. Financial crisis. Personal problems. The foundation all wrong. It cracks. It makes life so hard to live. What happen then? Death at the door! The receipe of life disaster. Yet nobody thinks about Death. It shouldnt happen right? It happens because we make the wrong chess moves. Learn to live within the means. The ability to pay and the knowledge that every one can't be rich....honestly!

The death on crossing the railway tracks. Damn. People still never learn. I read a secondary story book about the kampong folks and the railway tracks. It sounds so familiar on today's event. Put up fence. Destroy the fence. People divide. The KTM personnel and the short cut kampong folks. Every postal destroyed. Every advice ignored. Until death walks at the door.
Now they are talking about building overhead bridge for these kampong folks. Will they shit on the bridge one day? If the people do it, then it sounds so familiar in the story book. One gang shit on the bridge while the other tries to catch the culprit resulting in fist fights right on the bridge...

the political talk

UMNO recently held its 60 years of its formation in Johore. The PM spoke of the Malays survival and said that failure isnt an option! Why talk about race? What happen to Malaysia? Without a country called Malaysia, there won't be a race! Do these leaders know what they talk about? I am a Malaysian. I am proud of myself to live in this bless country called Malaysia. Only the politicians and the political gurus think of race. No wonder I see the segregation worsens in our society. Malaysia for Malaysians. Period. Nothing about race. I dont recognize myself as such and such a race; I know myself as a true born Malaysian. UMNO died in 1987. Dr Mahathir registered a new party called UMNO Baru. So the celebration of UMNO wasnt right. Those diehard ones will say it is the continuation of the old UMNO but the founder isnt the same anymore! Onn Jaffar and Dr Mahathir totally different persons founding UMNO. History will record it as such. But the political bigwigs in UMNO Baru dont see it that way....When honesty fails in the battle field, it is a lost cause already. Look around ourselves. The political landscape will change in our country. The present government has stayed too long. The BN government has lost its direction to service the people. Now it is only lip service to woo the people. After that the ruling government will rake in their benefits. Politics is unpredictable. Today's enemies is tomorrow's buddies. It is there. People who hunger for success joins the ranks. This is the sure way to get to the top. It is like an insurance company where the agents try to get to the top yet not many are successful. It is only the handful amongst the millions who make it to the ranks. These are the cream that got printed in the press. Likewise politicians entered the fray on the pretext of helping the people. But how many amongst themselves really go down to the people? Not many I am afraid. The joke is these people come around every 4 0r 5 years painted the town red! Many promises and giveaways and the poor folks are taken in....Every election it is the same story generated.

So don't believe the politicians all the time. Use them to the fullest. Learn their tricks and trades and perhaps one becomes as good as them. Use pro-active words. It hits the spot all the times.

Don't flow blindly. Politics though make laws for the country through parliament; in the end it is the people who have to learn it or fine for it. In between a trade is made. Go enjoy the time!

Water bills will drown consumer rights C HashimMay 8, 06 5:01pm



I am greatly concerned over serious inadequacies in the two water bills - WSI (Water Services Industry) and Span (Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara) Bills 2006. These two bills do not safeguard the consumers (ie, Malaysian citizens), do not protect the environment (the source of all water) and do not protect the sovereignty the country at large (particularly with the coming of Gats and WTO).
Water is a fundamental right and requirement for all Malaysians. While there is a need to regulate the water sector and embrace public sector reforms in order to improve efficiency, privatisation is not the solution. There is no evidence that privatisation of water in Malaysia has increased efficiency or quality of the water supplied to the public. Rather, privatisation has merely transferred wealth to an appointed private sector. Since 2004, there have been over 17 cases of ammonia leaking into our rivers, despite privatisation, two in the last two months alone. A working alternative to privatised water supply can be found in our own country, in the state of Penang, which is a public-public partnership for water management. The tabling of both the bills should be stopped immediately until the bills can be totally re-written to properly protect consumers, the environment and the nation. If this is not possible, I would like to see, at the very least, the following changes made to the bills:
The protection and rights of the consumer is very weak within the bills. Proper protection and avenues for compensation for the consumer, that are strong and enforceable, must be clearly written into the WSI bill. This must include the consumer’s right to compensation if the water company (licensee) breaches any provisions or conditions of his license.
Ninety-seven percent of our water comes from our rivers, yet no part of the WSI bill addresses water resource management and conservation from an ecosystem perspective. The bill must include legally binding clauses for the long-term protection and conservation of the water catchment forest areas, lakes and rivers, all the way to the water in-take and treatment plants downstream along the river, in the form of Integrated Water Resource Management. A specific part within the parent act should be allocated for this vital issue.
Water is a finite resource, yet water consumption is very high and often wasteful among Malaysian consumers. This must change if we want to have sufficient water for future generations. The water bill can address this by stipulating that water companies (licensees) be obliged to practice demand management of water, and conduct substantial awareness raising programmes for the consumer. If water demand is properly managed, much of this finite resource can be conserved. Demand management for water can also reduce the costs for additional infrastructure associated with un-managed water demand.
The bill should also include strict, binding clauses on water pollution and effects on downstream health. At the moment, the bill only has a few clauses if pollution results in death or near death.
The water commission should be an empowered regulator where the commissioners should advice the minister independently and without fear or favour. Therefore, any power to revoke the commissioners appointment arbitrarily in the Span bill should be removed.
The water forum should be a consumer body to protect consumer interests in relation to supply and distribution of water. The forum members should comprise water consumers, with no members from the water industry allowed.
These changes can help to make the WSI and Span bills truly reflect the needs and rights of the consumer, the ecosystem and the nation. Until such changes are made, the WSI and Span bills should not be tabled in Parliament.

Privatization won't work in the long run. It is the crony company which made the most out of it. It should made a public company so that all people can have a stake in it. In this way the consumers will have a say in the affairs of the company. Look at the highways. It is to me like one sided flow. The consumers have to pay for the inefficient system of the road flows. Look at the Mycard....the company makes millions at the expanse of the taxpayers. The Mycard won't last either. Yesterday the officer in the Registration Dept said it is like that lah.....Look at IRB e-line filing system....so difficult to connect. I didnt use it. The department sent form end of December 05. I sent back the form in Jan 06 so I missed using the e-filing. There are case studies about privatization projects in other countries -UK and Canada.

the party whip

The party whip used to toe members to party line. If it is in the party, I dont have any complaint. It is within the party rights. But in Parliament? Parliament is above all parties rules and regulations. These MPs represent the mandate from the people not the party. So how can a party whip decide the outcome of any rules or laws? It is absolute absurd that Parliament bows to party wishes. So what is Parliament for? A rubber stamp just to justify that my country is democratic? It is time that all MPs should declare that they owned their allegiance to the people and party comes second. Any law or rules that seem to make the people suffer should be removed by Parliament. No other body should pass rules or laws as if they run the country. Now we have local councils acting as the Lord of the people and we pay them for it? These local presidents and officers dont care what the people say. Mind you they are the Lords. They forget what is 'civil servant'. I am living in this country and the laws are meant to benefit the elite party and the rest of the people can only observe the wrongdoings running out from the administration
of the government and the local councils. The ironic issue is the federal minister has no jurisdiction over the state administration. The PM can only advice the chief ministers...though in party line these chief executives of the states report to the PM. So in this area I see the dividing line to usurp authority from the PM..yet the laws have not been changed. In Parliament every MP should be allowed to second motions from any source -BN or opposition - as long as it benefits the people. Currrently this never happens. The next election there will be major drawbacks for the ruling government.

AN experienced business leader once advised that we should learn from the experiences of others, simply because we don’t live long enough to learn on our own.
In this, an excellent resource is the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) whose 40-year history has been carved by unsung heroes who have dared to trail blaze against the odds to enhance managerial knowledge, standards and practice to build the nation.
One such torchbearer is Tan Sri Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid, a Fellow member of MIM who is currently chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad. It is well known that he is a simple man, and his simplicity belies the wisdom he has amassed over 35 years holding key positions in various Government departments and Government-linked companies (GLCs).
From Ahmad Sarji’s perspectives of his experiences, we infer five key points that would offer a better understanding of management, especially to the young and upcoming generation of managers.
Management – then and now
“In the early 1960s, management, or rather administration as it was then known, was not as complex as it is now,” he says.
“In those days, the main concern of the civil service was on the delivery system, i.e. to ensure proper management of the local authority through town boards. At the district level, management was concerned mainly with revenue collection, managing land schemes as well as the administration of rural development programmes.”
Having also been involved in the civil service at the Federal level, Tan Sri Ahmad attests, “The 1960s and 1970s were most challenging in terms of establishing infrastructure, a task which included the setting up of rules and regulations, as well as the determination of an appropriate code of ethics.”

“Now with a rapidly expanding private sector within the context of globalisation, things have changed tremendously. Today’s clientele is very different. Organisations nowadays have to grapple with global players. As such, the public sector has to deal with a very demanding private sector. This is an especially significant scenario since the private sector is the nation’s main engine of growth,” says Ahmad Sarji.
From the management of physical resources to human resources, inevitable change has taken place.
“The management of physical resources has expanded tremendously. For instance, companies today possess a multitude of assets, including global assets, all of which have to be managed efficiently.
KEY POINT 2: Impact of globalisationGlobalisation changes many things – clientele, competitors, company assets, and the way these are managed.
“Even from the perspective of human resources, there are now many different forms of specialisation, each requiring a different set of management principles!” Tan Sri Ahmad further observes.
In meeting societal needs at the national level, the concept of Malaysia Inc. (MI) was introduced by former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in 1981.
“The MI concept was mainly concerned with facilitating support for the private sector through speedier approval of licenses, de-brokering of public services, reduction of red tape, etc.
“As such, the Government produced books on dealing with the Malaysian civil service. We outlined in a compendium form, for instance, the route, rules and regulations for the private sector in acquiring a licence or other facilities from the Government,” Tan Sri Ahmad explains.
“Only from there were we able to identify which steps had to be obviated and which could be retained. We had to understand all the existing processes first before we knew how to rationalise them, helping to reduce the private sector’s cost in getting permits. But knowing the processes intimately is in itself a great challenge.”
Moral challenges
Contributing to the complexity of the management landscape today are moral challenges.
“The underlying reason behind such moral challenges is that there are people who are prone to corruption, especially as the pernicious lure of materialism creeps in,” says Ahmad Sarji.
“If you tell people that wealth is money, then people are going to be persuaded by this kind of impulse. But if you impart in people the fear of God and teach that wealth is not merely material but spiritual as well, then the people who have been imbued with these values won’t forget them. It isn’t that we should not pursue material wealth, but we must not be involved in corrupt malfeasance.
“The true index of one’s success is not based on the number of big cars, houses and other evidence of opulence, but rather by the wealth of knowledge one possesses.
“To me, my health is my wealth. Happiness is my wealth. The ability to think properly is wealth. Education is important, as what we are now is the mirror image of not only our background but also our education.”
KEY POINT 3: Management EfficiencyUnderstand all existing processes before you rationalise them to achieve efficiency
A keen reader, Ahmad Sarji advocates reading to “try to reduce intellectual poverty. We need to read books about the subject that we are given charge over.”
KEY POINT 4: Overcoming Moral ChallengesTrue wealth is not the accumulation of material gains but the enhancement of our spirituality through the fear of God.
And he practises what he preaches, a striking case being the fervour in which he learned about lawn bowling when he was elected president of the Malaysian Lawn Bowls Federation in 1997. In a few short years, he was able to raise the standard of the game that was previously almost unknown in the country. He even authored a book titled Lawn Bowls in Malaysia: The President’s Memoir last year.
Ahmad Sarji was charged with the responsibility of implementing the “Look East” policy while reporting directly to then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. In that time, he ensured the inculcation of work ethics by introducing the Clients’ Charter and applying techniques such as Quality Control circles, and organising a campaign against unproductive practices as well of clearance of arrears of work in the civil service.
A God-fearing man, Ahmad Sarji believes that unproductiveness or low productivity stems from a lack of godliness.
“Today, although management has become a complex thing in the private sector, the government has resolutely introduced best practices in corporate governance, including the requirement of quarterly reports, appropriate filling up of directorship and introduction of key performance indicators (KPIs).
“KPIs constitute useful tools to measure productivity; they represent landmarks in the evolution of management practice in the GLCs, which are needed to evaluate performance and sustain the best practice in management.”
And KPIs, he stresses, must be carefully monitored.
“Reward and punishment is a useful mechanism. If a manager does not perform, action needs to be taken on him. Bonuses should be disbursed in relation to profitability – a policy that must be honoured. There should be no mystique in running a company but rather, transparency and accountability.”
KEY POINT 5 : Performance EvaluationTransparency and accountability are crucial, with no compromises.
Ahmad Sarji who attributes his leadership and management principles to the valuable lessons he learned from his parents, grandparents and teachers, says, “I do not have any lofty or pristine principles, but merely simple principles which my elders have passed on to me.”
In this increasingly complex world, simplicity in wisdom and wisdom in simplicity might be the right moral antidote.

BBC Chairman resigned

BBC Chairman resigned. Because his colleagus didnt support him on the opposition motion about an MP interference in the Malacca customs which was published in the newspapers. All MPs are elected by the people to do business in Parliament for the benefit of the people. It is not for the government. In this case the party whip becomes the Lord over the peoples' representatives. Shahrir resigned because his conscious couldnt accept his tenure. I think the party whip should go and let MPs debate in the August House and it shouldnt be detect by the whip of BN. In this case we better dont go for election. What's the point when MPs can't bring up issues even the opposition table it first? If it is for the good of the people, it should be supported not otherwise. It is time PM should clarify. If he doesnt do it, then he is no different than Dr Mahathir. Currently he is surrounded by too many ministers which I think he has no confident with himself. Too many cooks spoil the soup........When Parliament is in session, all MPs and ministers should attend. They know the dates and duration and why disappear from Parliament? Diary is a form book for writing appointments and so they better use it to the fullest. Parliament is supreme and all elected representatives should attend......period. Maybe I am dreaming here....I dont see ministers attending Parliament except when the King opens Parliament sessions or an address by the prime minister. The PM should let the deputy ministers run the show when Parliament is in session. This is the way to groom leaders to take the helm of government. Will they do it?

mazda & toyota

I didnt tell about my cars. Mazda and Toyota. One bought on mainland the other on the island. One day Mazda got her fever. Maybe she was for many years. Because of Toyota. You dont believe cars get jealous.....? Unlikely scene. No life you mean? What about spirits in lifeless things? I think Mazda got jealous with me. I drive her around only in the evening nowadays and I dont take her out for long journey anymore...because I think Toyota is much better on the road and bigger size than Mazda. So she silently plan her devious ways to fool me. She let me drive her around for short distances and I didnt suspect anything amiss. When her paint turned ugly I had to send her to the paint shop to make over. Mazda went with blinking eyes. Now you see she seemed to tell me. So she stayed in the paint shop for about 2 weeks before I finally took her home. On the way she gave me the puff and pull and stalled her engine. I was quite annoyed and I revved up the engine thinking maybe she didnt drive for the last two weeks. She got into life and I drove her until I reached the T-junction. Then suddenly I heard a loud cranking noise....the whole engine stopped right on the T-junction. She couldnt move at all. Then a mechanic friend passed by. He came to help me. I pushed the car but it couldnt start either. Finally he said he had to tow it to his workshop. The following day he told me Mazda needed a new engine. The old one died on me yesterday. Now Mazda got a new conditioned engine of 1500cc. Mazda wants to vroom believing this is the trend on the road. Of course now she has more vroom than before. Now I had to send back to the paint shop because of water leaking and other rusty problems. Maybe she will stay there for another week....The next stop will be at Puspakom for her certification.....this is her final test and I hope she passes it.

Toyota too has her problems. I changed her fan motor today. She gave a lound squeaky noise once awhile on the road or at stationary. Now she is alright. So one has to take care of these women(cars) otherwise one wont get a chance to ride on her................

Malaysia.....Proton cars have so many problems...even to buy need many feedbacks to make a buying decision.

the spirit of gotong royong lacking

Gotong Royong is to cover the areas within the section of a housing estate. This is what would be done. In the rule of thumb it shouldnt go beyond its boundary. It belongs to another section head to determine his own needs. Unless he wants to participate in joint operations to clean up the adjoining areas. Sometimes it is difficult to get these people to volunteer on a Sunday or public holiday to clean up their respective areas. Bearing in mind these people need rest or the usual clique to spend 'quality time' with the family ( I always wonder what happen to them every day....no quality time with family or friends?) The mindset always differ to offer assistance when it is required. It is something unfamiliar living in the city. You can't find many people come out to make a picnic in gotong royong. Days of the kampong life is going off to twilight. So when I was in Kota Kemuning I saw a notice asking the residents to chip in their times for gotong royong. I didnt see many people turn up. This section 104 is rich with people and professionals but the outcome wasnt encouraging. When the residents themselves didnt want to spend a few hours to clean up their own places, they wont get outsiders to help. I saw them cleaning up the playground only. I again wonder what about their own areas along the road...drains...perhaps side roads too...I hope next time the association can do a better job...It was the first time I saw them doing

Malaysia...in the kampong it is so easy for every one to come along then drinks and cookies/cakes sometimes fried mee/rice.....now nothing at all!

holidays

I was in Shah Alam for the 3 days until 1 May 2006. I stayed around section 104 Kota Kemuning. A quiet place facing the golf field. This type of neighbourhood one won't see the friendly neighbour type. It isnt the kampong way of life. It is to each to his/her own. Nowadays eating at the coffee shops/restaurants in Kota Kemuning is expensice. It is something like 100% jump compared to my present place. Some items jumped to 2-3 times. Because the people who stay in Shah Alam are well to do type....? With these stiff prices I can last for a whole day. Here for one person costs something like $9 whereas at my place cost around $3...comparing with similar items and drink. Anyway I dont return to my home state that regular so I dont try to hide my displeasure over the prices. Take it like I am on holiday. I went to see Pangsapuri Tasik and so happened I met a real estate agent who showed me an empty unit. She told me the owner would sell for $272,ooo/- I just nodded my head. In my mind I could buy a landed property in Kota Kemuning for a double storey house. So I just took her card and said thank you and I was off to drive away. Before that I was talking to the guard who told me some agents sold way beyond the actual price of the condos. I am thinking the property slum will hit the market soon. Now with the rising BLR, it isnt easy to sell houses/condos/apartments. The contraction will hit the market but the developers and banks arent selling the drawbacks. They advice to invest in properties...it is a good buy for investment. Stop. Listen to the whispers floating in the market and the world....it gives you a semblance of what will happen...

When I went home I went to the net to check the prices of the Pangsapuri Tasik(Lake Condos) in Kota Kemuning. The prices range from $198,000-210,000 per unit nothing of the high range of $272,000. Some real estate agents try to muscle in to make a quick buck. So it is good to check out with other agents or view website to feel the prices range for this location. I feel the price can go down say around $10k-15k for a unit. Bearing in mind this condos has maintenance fee. I dont ask then but I guess it can be around $120 per month because it is gated, security post and swimming pool. Anyway I haven't decided to buy. Right now I want to settle my two houses first then I decide.

Shopping in Subang Parade, Ikea and walked around The Curve and also k-four. Bought a few things - plants, ink and hangers. Actually spent many hours in Ikea had lunch there too.

labour day

Labour Day. So what is new? The conditions of work maybe have improved but I have a feeling it has not changed drastically as expected by the government. Safety is one of those concerned expressed so many times for the work place. It is still lacking in most work places. Unless there is a law to cane the bosses then I think it will move like there is no heaven. Now every boss will take his/own sweet time to get certain requirements done. Excuse? Money. Econimic is bad so it has to forgo. You hear it all the times. The company directors will take time to implement it and as such the workers will try to improve because too much noises they make lose their jobs security and hence their families, cars, houses, education, etc....Advantage the company bosses. This is where the government should really consider caning the errant bosses and reward the responsible CEOs. Right now the government is pro-business so the workers will have to fight on their own and they shouldnt depend so much on the government for assistance. The government will take so many general elections before something concrete is done. So for those who are working HAPPY LABOUR DAY!

the bridge too far

The scenic bridge was history. Singapore bullied Malaysia! Our government crumbled. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi gave reasons which I couldnt accept. People protest and legal implications. I sat here to ponder. The bridge was negotiated for at leat 10 years. I didnt see people went with fury. In fact many people in Johor were eagerly waiting for the bridge to materialise. Legal implications? Nothing whatsoever was discussed between Malaysia and Singapore. Now the present government called it off after awarding the contract in January 06 to build the bridge. Sometimes I wonder what's happening with Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. I guess he should go to mosque to preach. I know the chinese mindset. They hit you when you are weak. They dont give you a chance to recuperate. You have it for good. And they are smart to create moving poles - giving all kinds of imaginative mirages to confuse the opponents. Malaysia had her bomoh but failed to use her magic to make Singapore fall. When her weakness became known, Singapore got her advantage to go for the culling and now the bridge was history...

petrol saving wiped out!

The petrol saving wiped out! So there is nothing then to improve the transport system of the country. The crude petrol jumped to US75 a barrel from US65 a barrel. So what is Petronas up for? Now the government will guarantee the GLC to take up the private initiatives in companies related to transportation and lease or rent to the government. Dont we have enough bleeding from the highway projects? These GLC companies including EPF will invest a quarter of the $200 billion 9th Malaysia Plan. To me the government should have thought it out in its plan. Apparently when these people drew up the plan they dont source for fundings. It was then tabled in Parliament and all the 'yes men' would say 'go for it PM!' If it is a good plan, why go out to explain to the rakyat? Maybe the PM felt his plans could be sabotaged by the bad delivery system which he knew since he was part of the system before. He should not burden the people by saying it is a project for all Malaysians...Common on we arent in kid schools! Read backwards about all the plans.....you will get the answer and see who or which companines will get the major share and see what will happen to the ordinary folks like you and me. Plan always feed into the imagination of the planners. But it should be realistically targeted to benefit the people and not to the pockets of a few..

cameron highlands 3rd visit

This was my 3rd trip to Cameron Highlands. The last trip was 7 months in September 05. This excursion was on 21 April 06 with family groups. It was to celebrate my nephew's birthday. It was raining on reaching Kampong Raja. Then it was drizzling right to Brinchang before it finally stopped at Tanah Rata. We rented 2 apartments and stayed for 2 nights. The housing estate is quiet and flowing of fresh air. In the morning I could hear chirping of birds something like wake up morning call. Cool air circulating with moisture floating which I think I dont get it often in lowlands unless there is a shower or perhaps grass cutting...

We arent really tourists. We dont really visited places but dropped by to the nursery areas to take pictures of various flowers. I went to look at the housing projects thinking of getting a holiday place there. I got brochures to browse through and didnt see any mock-up unit.

The place always never plan to suit the natural environment. It is built as you wish. It destroys the natural ambience of the hill resort. I guess money is the real issue. Get out the gold mine and then leave the empty holes for others to stare and curse it. By then the money has gone to the businessmen leaving just pockets of sentimental values to the nature lovers to walk around. Currently it is slowly going to be destroyed of its natural ambience. It is hot now compared to my 1st visit to the hill resort.

The old Merlin resort reopened as Cameron Highlands Resort. I stayed in the old Merlin for a few nights before. The facade stands as usual no change to it. I didnt see the interior since I was just passing through.

I returned after spending 2 nights in the hill resort. The next round will be my 4th visit which I think will be quite awhile unless I find a place to buy (?)

The new house has problem. Leaking on the roof top and 1st floor bathroom to downstair bathroom. The contractor/developer normally takes time to repair. Previously I had written so many letters until the ink too dried up. So finally I sent my bill to the lawyer's office to claim for the previous faults on the house. The Defect Liability Period has been done so the developer has no excuse to play 'I dont know' In fact the site office will try to pass over the buck trying to give many excuses and some will be bullied to accept it as 'Act of God' which remind me of Samy Vellu. This morning the guy came to inspect his work of his piping works in the 1st floor bathroom. If he is not at fault, the developer has to redo the tiles and concrete on the bathroom floor. Damned. I had painted the whole house with a new coat of paint and now this leaking issue.
I am getting tired of trying to pester this developer to get his act right. I hope my next property shouldnt give me this headache. It is 75 % completed. The last time I checked it was looking good to me. The final touches are coming soon - tiles, gate, road, kitchen cabinet....by the developer. To me it is a good buy

local councils - forget about spying

The local councils have so much work to do. Yet the officers seem to indulge in peeping private lives of others. Because to generate revenue to its coffers. My perception is the officers have nothing else to do. Blocked drains, poor rubbish collections, poor garden maintenance in public areas, poor enforcement, never want to handle complaints, passing bucks around, poor assessment rates collection running to millions....yet they can spend time catching amorous couples in public or dark places. I should think they should devise a proper system to collect assessment rates from the property owners than allowing debts to accumulate into millions. This show how efficient these officers are. Poor perception only want to do the easy work. I still maintain that local councils shouldn't involve in passing laws or bylaws. It is the work of Parliament. Let the MPs decide. The local councils become the LORD of the people. Even PM has lost control over his administration. I read last month even a chief minister didnt know how much taxes his local council imposed in his state. When it was brought up by an opposition member he disputed the percentage charge yet it was true...Now it was timely that the Minister had dialogues with all local council presidents in Lumut, hopefully something good can be brought into focus in the administration of the local councils. Sometimes I wonder whether we are slowly going to be the next Taliban as the officers carrying out their tasks to patrol the morality of the people.
