the white bird's cage

The white bird's cage
Shining bright in the early morning ray
Casting warm shadows amongst potted plants and palm trees
As I watch the little birdies antics

Hopping in the cage
Exercising its legs and wings
Probing for ways to get free
Thinking the freedom is within reached

The observation drags on
As one little birdie tries
Dragging its head and body
Into the steel wire to free

Push and push it finally did
Escape to the palm leaves
Taking a short break
It is then I caught it
Back into the bird cage

Too much energy expanded
The little birdie can't fly
The time isn't right for them
The predators wait for the silly birds

Now all in the bird cage
Brushing feathers looking neat
As the sun rises into the hot sky
I leave them in the palm trees shade
As the little birdies doze to sleep
