Those were the days
The village life I once knew
Playing marbles and flying kites
Catching fighting fishes and spiders
The challenges and pride
On the reward of champion
Amongst the village friends
Sharing a common bond of life
Those adults we thought were upright
Yet in later years we found out the flaws
One incident I could remember
The father raped his 1 year old daughter
He was into the religious thing
Every festival he was involved
Yet in years he lost his soul
And his creditability amongst his peers
The tragic affair
Slowly it died out too
Only spoken in whispers
Of the shame felt in the village
Those were the days
Studying only to learn
Yet thinking of making money
The boys of the village
The young minds worked differently
As years came changes were made
Some dropped out others continued
Life of crimes; life of dreams
As the village disappeared
The scattered friends too
Into new life beginning
A new place; a new bridge
