the fortune changes 3

The former owner turns the hose on them
“You dirty dogs run away from here”
He rains water on the 2 black dogs
They stand at a distance barking at him

“He can't recognize us
Maybe we are looking dirty
We have been running for a year
We haven't changed our fortunes”

“We better go
Our lives can't improve
We have our freedom
We have no home”

Then the dogs see the familiar van
Cruising slowly along the street
They run away to a safer place
“The dog catchers are back”

“We can't be living like this
The dog catchers don't leave us alone
They intend to catch us and our friends
Don't you think it is time to move on?”

The van stops at the man watering his garden
“Hello you see many dogs around here?”
“I saw 2 black dogs earlier squatting near the side road
Now they had ran away to hide”

“The black dogs still around?
We have been searching for them
We can't catch the black dogs
They seem to know the tricks”

“We think they are trained dogs
We suspect the owner lost them or something else?”
“The black dogs are trained you say?”
“We trained dogs so we suspect the black dogs are”

“Once I lost 2 black dogs
They ran away from here
I got it from my neighbor
Who lost everything one day”

“Maybe there are the same black dogs
They always roam around this neighborhood”
“I don't know by now
They don't look familiar to me”

Then a new BMW car stops by
“Mr Sam how are you?”
“Oh Mr Fletcher! A surprise!”
“Yeah it has been a while
I thought you still have the black dogs?
Maybe you can return to me?
I can pay for the expenses Mr Sam”
“Well I am sorry Mr Fletcher
The 2 black dogs ran away one day
I couldn't find the dogs.....
Earlier I saw 2 black dogs sitting at the road
It has been a year since they gone”

“Damn! My daughter crying for the dogs
I keep postponing it until today I drive here
I was hoping the dogs are with you Mr Sam”
“We try to catch the black dogs
They always escape from our nets
We suspect they are trained dogs”

“You are right
They are trained dogs for the family
Our misfortunes we let them go
Now I made it I wanted to get them back
I guess I have no such luck here”

“Maybe the 2 black dogs are still alive
You should go search for them
I saw them running northwards
They may have a hiding place”

Fletcher drives along
Eyes peeling on the roads
Looking for any sign of the black dogs
Then he stops at the abandoned house

He steps out of the car
He uses his whistle to call the dogs
The familiar tune the dogs should recognize it
No matter the year or time passes through

The 2 black dogs ears peaked up
“Do you hear that?
It's our tune in those times
Our master calling us?”

“Maybe it is the dog catchers
You know they have all kinds of tricks”
“I doubt it in my ears
It is the tune we are trained to listen”

The 2 black dogs run out to see
They see a man very familiar
He still blows his whistle....
The dogs wag their tails and bark loudly

“Black 1 Black 2!
Don't you remember me?
I am taking you home
It has been a long time!”

The 2 black dogs recognize the names
“It's him alright! Nobody knows our names
It's our master coming home to us!”
They run towards Fletcher..........

They smell the man
The familiar aroma and his kindness
The dogs wag tails barking at the same time
“You look so dirty!”

The dogs only woof and woof
Fletcher opens the car door
“Now get inside and stay quiet
We are going home”

The dog catchers passing by
They wind down the car window
“I see you found the black dogs”
“They are my dogs alright!”

The black dogs stare at the dog catchers
They don't bark this time around
The dog catchers wave at them
They drive away to catch other dogs

Fletcher starts his car
Whistling a tune the dogs know so well
“The day the fortune changes
Life will be bliss for one who seeks it”

The sky is clear
The blue and white clouds
The breezes sing along
The day is looking bright

The 2 black dogs
They find their home once more
The comfort of caring owner
They must be humbled this time around
