the knock on the doors

The firecrackers
Cracking up the sleep
Of the graveyard shift
The sleepy heads walk

The garbage men
The lorries driving through
Earning extra or getting red packets
Even the grass cutters so hard working

On normal days
They hardly make the day
It is on the festive season
They work extra hard

Even the potholes tarred it
Before the day of the festive holidays
This is the habit of the town council
Trying to say they are hard working

Only the obvious ones
In full public view
The inner potholes in housing estates
The potholes remain

At night the firework display
Some pay to get into the mood
It is better to give to the poor
Let these people have a good day
