When
I was 17
The
pages of books never turned
It
was left alone dreaming away
Of
life in the make shift world
Looking
at girls
It
became a hobby
The
inside world ran
It
was fun
Day
dreaming in class
The
study never came out
The
world full of opportunities
Why
cooked up in a square wall?
When
I was 17
The
form six girls came to class
The
wolf whistles and alert eyes
They
came to ask for donation
When
I was 17
Life
moved within the school walls
Playing
rugby to look manly
It
was the girls all the while
When
I was 17
It
wasn't about study
It
was to get out quick
It
wasn't about dreams or ambition
When
I was 17
Books
of study not my cup of tea
The
future wasn't mine to make
I
couldn't think so far ahead
