The
birdwatcher looks out of his window
His
eyes misty he is lucky to stay alive..
How
he run to get to his safe house
He
can't believe he run so fast in the night
There
is a knock his father walks in
“I
think you are stupid to go there
You
don't hear what I told you long ago?
The
white shadow will take your life!”
“But
dad you are alive!”
“I
was lucky that night
A
priest came to take her away
I
thought I would have died in the lake”
“There
was peace in the village
Nothing
was said about the white shadow
The
priest held her in the temple
For
decades nobody was worried
One
day she came
In
the clear moonlit night
She
was on the wooden bridge
A
lonely old man was the victim
An
older woman saw her
Embracing
the old man plunged into the lake
She
went closer to look on the lake
The
colour of red floating in the night water
She
walked hurriedly away
Praying
for her soul along the night
She
told the village head
They
came with lights to search...
In
the lake there was calm
The
water was dark and green
Only
the moon seemed bright
Nothing
was found on the night”
“Why
are you telling me dad?
I
saw the white shadow tonight
You
think she will come for me?
I
mean she will take me away?”
“You
will hear her songs
The
beautiful haunting melodies
You
will get hooked to it
You
will see her walking by”
“The
priest will wait for her
When
she comes calling
It
will be the end of her reign
This
time the priest has to end her life”
“My
old man told me years ago
The
woman was pretty and all guys came
Every
guy wanted a piece of her life
Every
guy gone nobody came home
She
lived near the lake
Singing
her songs in the night
She
had many guys to entertain
She
had her life full of suitors
She
needed their souls
The
villagers felt aggrieved
When
their men never came back
They
went to see the village head
He
organized a search party
They
went to the tent near the lake
They
never found her there
They found bones buried near big trees
He
planned to trap the woman
He
laid down traps around the tent
The
woman came at night
In
the full moon the glory bloom
As
she stepped into her tent
The
netting came down trapped her inside
She
screamed and shouted profanities
They
hoisted her up to a pole
In
the full moon
They
saw her face changed
The
body turned into a beast
They
shot her with their arrows
Hundred
arrows flew
Pierced
her body she slumped to her death
They
threw her into the lake
And
so the legend of the white shadow came”
The
birdwatcher looks out at his window
“I
see her, dad. She is walking and waving to me
She
even blows kisses and inviting me to come along
She's
walking naked in the moon light”
The
older man walks to the window
He
recognizes the face of decades ago
“Damn
she hardly grows old......”
“But
dad she is a ghost isn't she?”
The
priest conducts his praying
The
sound of chanting can be heard
The
white shadow stops and screams
As
the effects begin to take on her
The
birdwatcher sees her falling
On
the ground she stretches and forms
Into
a beast half snake and a big cat fish
Then
the golden arrows floating down on it
The
beast stands its ground
Taking
the full impact of arrows
The
chanting and praying continue
The
beast struggles slowly turns into dust
By
then the dawn morning arrives
The
priest says his goodbye and walks away
The
birdwatcher and his father fall asleep
Dreaming
about the beast chasing after them
The
day light shining bright
The
wooden bridge many people walking on it
Some
casting their fishing rods into the lake
Others
just look never know about the history
The
village goes back to its life
The
way it was the way it should be
The
white shadow on the wooden bridge
The
story will be told many times
