The
red bricks on the road
The
lorry came to unload
The
rectangle blocks stayed put
It
had no value out in the open
The
rain and shine came
It
never could run away
A
dog or cat would pee on it
“Served
you right”
The
scavengers might come
Looked
it over maybe could get some
Who
would complain?
In
the open on the road
It
had its value
When
it was mixed and combined
On
the walls where it could serve
For
decades without complain or cry
