There is an old
couple
The children all
grown up and married
They live by
themselves
They retired from
the hawker’s business
Everyday they will
feed the stray cats
They say they don’t
own these furry friends
They will scoop up
the animals
They send them to
the private vet clinic
They see the stray
cats everyday
Waiting at the door
for their meals
Quietly sitting
down or lazing around
On the time the
meals will be served
The regular cats
they see
They will send them
to be spayed or neutered
Though they say
they want to stop their breeding
The cats belong to
somebody’s else
The cats in the old
couple eyes
They will feed them
as the cats arrive
I think they want
to feel useful
Of their lives
watching the rainbow
