The birdie flies
away
After weeks of
feeding
It has grown
quickly
The parenting birds
keep watching
Until the day the
birdie can fly
Yesterday out of
its nest
Looking at its
surrounding
Feeling the world
in its eyes
The birdie was
eager to fly
But the mother bird
kept it
Maybe whispering it
wasn’t the time
Today in the morning
I watch
As the birdie takes
its flight
The wings get
caught in the branches
I have to retrieve
its wings
And put him back in
its nest
The birdie rested
in the nest
The parenting birds
keep flying around
A sign to encourage
the birdie to fly
As I walk away
thinking the birdie will stay
But it never
happens
A few minutes later
I hear the chirping
voices over the trees
I watch from my
garden
The parenting birds
are busy
And the birdie
chirping
Calling the
parenting birds
“I am here! I am
here!
I can fly away from
my nest!”
