the old indian woman

The old Indian woman came
By the trolley bed the nurse pushed her in
She was sleeping through her journey
Alone in the ward 308

The first night nobody came
She was alone speaking in her sleep
Snoring loudly in her dream land
She never bothered the others

The next day still nobody visited her
Children or relatives or friends
She is left all alone in the ward
With the nurses helping her

One nurse had to spoon feed
The old Indian woman
She can understand questions
She can answer well

But her children?
The last 3 days saw nobody
She is practically left alone
In the ward with the nurses

What we did when we were young
Turned into adult got married and had children
How we raise the children it will tell in the future?
Abandoned parents with nobody arrives for visits

It is always a sad story
Looking at old people abandoned
On the streets or in hospitals
They know their time to suffer

The cycle returns
The tragic stories we hear
Of children and parents
The sorry state of a life
