The
fighting fishes
Once
it was a popular past time
Every
one would go out hunting
Some
would buy
The
early years
Living
in the village
We
would watch the fish fights
On
the side betting too
I
remembered those times
Going
out to hunt the local fighting fishes
We
would scout amongst the oil palm trees
Sometimes
traveling a far distance searching in ponds
Not
all the times the excursions yielded results
We
could return empty handed but satisfied
Wandering
around and dipping in the pond
We
never thought of danger those years ago
But
times changed
We
saw the imported varieties came
Fierce
looking fighting fishes
All
in its beauty and colours
Then
the popularity wane
The
village folks grew up left to the city
In
time nothing was heard about it
It
was a time of years ago
