When
we were young
Our
world was our own
We
could build castles in the air
We
didn't worry about fall out
We
could run in the open field
Ran
into the secondary forest
Searching
for fighting fishes and spiders
There
was no worry about snakes of colours
We
could run to neighbour's yard
Stole
some rambutan and mangosteen
Sometimes
we could steal papayas
The
neighbour would shout and pay us a visit
Our
parents would scold or cane us
Sometimes
we would be let go
When
we promise we would not repeat it
But
the young would change mind easily
We
could swim in the drain
After
a heavy downpour
Pretending
it was a cool swimming pool
When
we were young life was easy living
When
we came of age
The
world had changed
We
had changed too
We
saw we weren't free at all
