there is still light

High light through the window. by Yow Wray
High light through the window. by Yow Wray from flickr
When we think the darkness
Pitch black as we walk through
Touching objects feeling our way
The dark maze of political game

The façade of good standing
Morality hiding behind a smile
Giving out favors and grants
To cronies all the way down

To the ordinary people
The government seems functioning well
These simple folks don’t know the darkness
On ISA, OSA, lopsided affairs
The needs of political survival
The politicians do anything to get there

The government agencies work hand in hand
You grease me I grease you both survive
Only the ordinary people get water cannon
On the streets; raiding in the homes

Yet there is still light
At the corner glowing slowly bright
The darkness will not stop these ordinary people
They will bring justice and harmony the way they can

For darkness is just a temporary excursion
The light will shine eventually
When the ordinary people fight
With voting rights in their hands
The politicians will know how they fare
When the election comes around
