Morning Glory changes into a bat
Flies away into the night sky.....
Doris watches with sadness in her eyes
For the day there will be blood spilled
The old chief can't stop her
The daughter he thought was dead
Now alive but with the devil
Only a wooden spike will ease her pain
“Now all of you know
We have to fight for our survival
In this village we can't hope for help
The evil lord will come
Tomorrow there will be light
We have to march to the castle on the hill
We have to take him and his followers down
Even if we fail, we know we have done our best
Doris and her people will protect us
When night falls they will be around
We will take our destiny in our hands
We can't let fear sink our spirits and destiny”
The old chief turns to look at the sky
A tiny bat flapping its wings in the night
Then he whispers softly “Goodbye child!”
As he wipes tears from his face
Doris returns to her shadow
Lying underground to wait for the night
The rest of the villagers form a team
Taking turns to watch the night
Two by two they walk
Around the circle of the few houses
Every one sleeps in the open night
Feel the inconveniences but lives are important
The old chief sits on his verandah
Smoking his long pipe thinking of the day ahead
His ears pick up loud noises
The drumbeats from the dark hill
