the begging game

The beggar on the corridor
He sits there waiting for his donation
People who walk through
Some will give him alms

He bandaged his legs
With thick layers of white cloth
As if to tell the public walking by
I am suffering in pain”

On top of his legs
He also covers around his stomach
Lazing with his body against the wall
He hopes to get alms

Why he doesn't go to hospital?
It isn't very far from where he begs
Across the street and up the slope
The hospital waits for the aged and injured

But then it could be a ruse
The begging business an easy scheme to milk
The unsuspected public of generosity
Without realizing there is a con-game going on
