the man afraid to go

The man afraid to go
He can't leave his chair
He knows he will be hooked
Too many skeletons he can't explain

No matter what it is said
He will try to hang on to his role
He will tell his stories...
Maybe the country pumpkins believe him

The city and town folks give up
They can't stomach what he says
So many questions of law involved
Unless he is on his way out of office

The stage all light up
The lights sparkling bright with colours
The man sees the spot lights
He waves as he walks to the stage

The silence in the air
The expectations high in the minds
The man stands there checking his notes
He finds he has nothing to say

He walks out through the back door
Leaving the noises far behind
He has nothing to say to the crowd
He loses his marbles and his honesty
