reflections on may 13

The history of May 13
In my mixed neighbours
Nothing was changed
Nobody did anything wrong

The curfew was imposed
In the day I could cycle along
The police were on duty
Watching the scenes

In Klang
At night I heard gunshots
We formed our own
To guard the village then

Though we talked about it
It happened in KL
The ambushed and killings
The city turned chaos

It was short lived
The lost lives and damages
A race got amok
A study of history

In KL the worst hit
For me I heard about politics
The impatience to gain power
Tunku became the saddest man

May 13, 1969
A history must be learned
The summer days of fire and lost lives
A dark history the nation doesn’t need to walk there
