The quiet village life
It went on high alert during 1969
The year of racial clashes
May 13 came
The elders used to tell stories
About the incident of political differences
The winners and losers couldn't see eye to eye
Thumbing nose trying to muscle through
The different races in the village
By then quite a number moved houses
Leaving some staying behind........
In the night gun shots could be heard
Many were caught unaware
The day curfew came quickly
Every one wondered what really happened
The young couldn't understand a thing
In days that followed
The racial clashes came to an end
The government managed to get it under control
The answers weren't written
Nobody knew why and how it started
The stories came with conflicting news
Kuala Lumpur caught in the mess
Of the racial clashes in the city
The elders didn't know
Who started the black history
In the village every one was supporting
Each other against outside elements
When it was over
Curfew lifted
Every one was in high spirit
Now they could go out quietly
Life in Kampong Tengah
It returned to its normalcy
Around a year the village pulled down
On the tarred roads and buildings there were history
