the model 6

The villagers came packed the compound
A make shift tent to accommodate 1,000 people
The night was cool stars shining bright
The model knew she got a good luck on her side

As she spoke and gestures
The crowd was with her
Earlier Broken Tooth had distributed
The cover magazines of her

He worked behind the scenes
Telling those he met how she made it
“Each of us can do it
We should make it on our own”

“This government has cheated us
Our lands and our rights
They lived in palatial mansions
We lived in this miserable jungle

Do you want to live like them?
I am sure all of us do.........
But you know we can't if we allow them
These leaders must go!”

The crowed erupted with loud clapping
The quiet night in the hinterland erupted
The shouts of change; vote for change
“Our forefathers are the finest warriors!”

“We must get back our rights
Look at us now what we have?
We are pushed to our limits
If we don't change, we will lose our heritage”

The villagers murmured to each other
Now they realized they had been duped for decades
The government reaped the bounties they got peanuts
They agreed time has come to change the scenes

In the radio Jargon heard the speeches
Of the opposing candidates telling the same stories
“We must vote for change
It's now or never in our challenge!”

He munched his peanuts
Throwing the skin away
Then he heard footsteps
He saw the local gangs came

“Hey Jargon!
You try to avoid us?”
Jargon got up
“No Sunny
I was busy nowadays”

“We have something for you?
Maybe you will be interested
You want to make some cash?
“Just ask the woman to see me”

“You must be kidding Sunny!
We all grown up together
And you can't recognize her?”
“What you mean Jargon?”

“She kicked your butts a few times
When you tried to muscle her....
Now you asked me to tell her to see you?
You are in the wrong place tonight”

“You are telling me she....”
“Yes Sunny it's the model
My sister is back in the village
So you better clean up your act!”

“She has grown Jargon
So am I after all these years
She is still fiery like the old
Now maybe I can beat her?”

Jargon smile at Sunny
“You can't beat her
She's so good and you know it
She has the martial art skills”

“Okay I just go and watch
Maybe she recognizes me for a change
Honestly I don't know her on the stage”
“Boss what we do now?”

“You better disperse
Go play dead or see women
I have business to take care off
Shall we go Jargon?”

Broken Tooth came from the crowd
He saw Jargon and Sunny
“Hey guys wait for me!
You don't leave me behind”

Once they were called the 3 stooges in the village
They always gone for mischief during the night
They would steal eggs, bananas and papayas
Sometimes they poke fun at the older people

They were always the butt of jokes
The 3 stooges always in a team
In the village they appeared as a unity
No leader but each worked as one

They did a lot of childish pranks
The older people tolerated themselves
Some gave them money or tokens
That kept them at bay

Years came they grew up
They left to pursue each other ambition
Broken Tooth in loan sharking business
Sunny involved in the local gangs
Jargon in boating businesses

Now they met again
They shared joked and laughter
“Sunny afraid of the model?
You should be out of it by now”

“I think I let it be
I don't want to talk about it”
“Oh Sunny? Chicken out again?”
“I don't want her to know”

They sat in Jargon's house
Drinking local beer and laughing
The world seemed close nearby
The 3 stooges engaged in many fronts

Their lives moved in different direction
They couldn't complain of their choices
Sunny and Broken Tooth could have more assets
Jargon just depends on tourists arrival

By 11.00pm the campaigns stopped
The model got off the stage and mingled around
She felt happy she felt good in every possible way
Alone at last in the empty tent then she saw Sunny
