don't be greedy

The man sits on the bench
In the sunset near the lake
He looks at his watch
He has no interest at all

The buzzing insects
Slowly irritating him
But he lets it go
For he has no interest

Once he had everything
Now he seems lost
He was too greedy
He never listened

In the share market
He played, won and lost
In the commodity market
He hedged, he won and lost

Now he is a wretched soul
He lost everything to China Doll
It was his only excuse
His family kicked him out good

He sits on the bench
Watching the time to go
Nobody takes pity on him
Old has taken its toll

Sometimes he cries
Alone in the night
Only God seems to listen
His only salvation to come

The lake seems inviting
The shadows of past souls hide
The eyes and hands waving
He knows he can't make a mistake again!

The life of greed
He swallowed many in his time
He forgot about good values
The compassion and tolerance

He thought he could live
The way money could buy
The successes he achieved
The crooked ways he played

Years of his life
He thought he could
One day he found
His greed stole away his wealth

He was left penniless
Sold all his assets
His family members left him
He was alone to face his life

Now he realizes his follies
Life isn't about money
Life is about deeds and gratitude
Sharing the burden give a helping hand

He prays hard on the bench
Eyes watery appealing for second chance
He sees the dark lake
The light finally shines...

The next morning
He uses his spare cash
Buy lottery tickets
He prays he strikes it

The day after
He sees his numbers in print
In the newsagent's shop
He cries so happily
