When
clock strikes 12 midnight
The
woman waits patiently for her boyfriend
Along
the jetty to an island
She
walks many times around
The
stall owners stare at her
Thinking
she is mad walking alone
Along
the wooden jetty waiting for whom
Some
diners too look up and ponder
The
time passes by
The
soft breezes poking fun
She
ignores it and walks alone
Once
a while she checks her watch
The
seconds then minutes
The
man is late this time
Finally
she sits down on a bench
Looking
towards the sea....
She
shivers
The
cold wind caressing her thoughts
Pulling
her back into the sea
She
imagines what will it be like
Then
she hears footsteps
She
turns around to see
Faces
of many men
“Are
you alright Miss?”
She
smile shyly
“I
am alright
I
am just waiting
For
a friend to come”
When
she looks above their heads
She
sees her man walking to the jetty
She
waves her hand and the men look
They
walk away saying goodnight
The
sea lashes on the planks
The
white foams mixing with the dark
The
night breezes blowing along
The
night finally comes alive
She
runs to him
The
smile and the glow
Only
thing she hasn't known
She
walks pass through
The
man dreams of her smile
The
images seem real as he walks the jetty
Teary
eyes as he recalls the fateful night
A
woman floating in the fisherman's net
She
stops and turns around
“It
can't be true!
I
am here why are you looking down?
I
am here waiting for you at midnight!”
The
man hears the wind echo
He
looks up and facing the stalls
Now
the diners and neon lights
The
smell of food and barbeque
The
water lashes on
The
white foams rising up with the splashes
The
wind surfing on the water
In
the night lingering whisper of loneliness
The
man bows his head
In
his own grief he cries
He
forgets about his date
When
he remembers it is too late
“I
am here my dear
Why
don't you see me?”
The
man only listens to the breezing echo
Of
the night he never forgets
He
stands at the jetty
For
quite a while looking to the sea
The
stars shine up in the sky
He
wishes she lives in paradise
Then
he moves away
To
the parking lot where his car stays
He
looks up to the jetty as if he hears
“I
am here my dear if only you can see”
He
drives the car away
On
midnight he forgets
A
woman standing on the jetty
Tears
flowing hope to see him again
