When
I was walking
Along
Panglima lane
It
didn't strike me as much
I
didn't know about its story
Until
I read about it in later years
Once
it was a popular haunt
For
the rich men to keep their mistresses
Those
decades ago it was called Concubine lane
The
pretty women who stayed there
Everything
was paid by the big towkays
The
decades gone the buildings stayed on
Through
neglect and family disputes
The
double storey houses become an eyesore
With
frayed paint and decaying smell
The
structures will not hold on for long
The
lives of the old houses
The
ghosts have sucked it dry to rot
Some
owners have renovated the homes
Some
are rented out to tenants as offices or shops
Many
are left in depilated conditions
Waiting
for the day the structures fall
In
Ipoh those were the days of the rich and play toys
Of
stories of the past passing as tourist folklore
Of
a time of big towkays and concubines
