The year the school closed on him
The result of freedom he thought he had
No more getting up early in the morning
As early as 5 in the dark yet
Those years in school
He got the morning bus
Rushing with the others
Some working adults too
In the cool morning night
On the road in a small town then
Every one stood like robot
No conversation maybe few
Eyes peeled on the corner
Waiting for the bus to arrive
The anxious looking ones
“What if the bus fail to arrive?”
Normally the usual faces
The students and working adults
Every one seemed to acknowledge
The passengers came up to the bus
In the bus some distractions
About school girls wooing them
The male students at the back
Cracking silly jokes hoping to get notice
The girl students just ignored
Maybe smiles that was all one got
In the bus for 30 minutes....
In the early morning before light shot in the sky
Now he was alone
Free of school free of homework
He hardly did his only his favorites
Now all these too were gone
When he woke up
He had nothing to claim
Friends in school all disappeared
He was practically on his own
He didn't find work
He was relaxing at home
Listening to radio
Passing his uneventful life
Days to months
He let the time gone
He didn't do anything
He just measured his world
Then he decided to coach primary students
A small crowd earning some pocket money
3 times a week he felt he was useful....
Earning peanuts to pass his time
Some students got good grades
Parents were happy singing praises
Eventually he had to stop..........
He was thinking for his future
He got a job in a factory
Shah Alam seemed far away
The usual morning ritual returned
He got it there for a month
He was good with his skills
Learning as fast as he could
Along the way he stepped on the wrong foot
He told off a girl slow routine
She complained to her favorite supervisor
One thing he knew he was asked to leave
He was happy though he had no income
Life cycles many had to be met
Every evening with some acquaintances
After work in the evening waiting for buses
They thumbed rides from passing cars
Not many times they were successful
Reaching home would be at night
He seemed to joke himself.........
The vampire in the morning then in the night
He hardly saw the sun...
Back at home
Sleeping eating sleeping
Listening to radio
The time passed on
Sometimes he played badminton
With an elderly man who always won
He was good with his game
He got him running in the court
In time he got a job
In the city he hardly gone
His sister recommended him
He got the job typed his own appointment letter
It's called “Century-Abad”
Situated along the Old Klang Road
The first time he was there
He saw how tall and big the building was
The pay wasn't good
Those time it was manageable
He enjoyed his working life
He met friends....
He used to help out
With other departments
He used to get free food
Joining the cooks
In the city he hanged out
With other staff in a rented bungalow
After work they would pass the time
A few times Latiff Ibrahim came
In those years he wasn't known
He would narrate his story in his working films
Acting some scenes he was involved
Sharing his view while stopping for a break
It was the first time he saw
Colleagues smoking marijuana rolled in cigarettes
They said it was good smoking it
For him he wasn't interested
He jammed late at night
With a close colleague
They spent time in night club
Sometimes they slept in the office
At one time he heard
The love making of a bouncer and a GRO
In the sofa in the night club
They thought they were alone
The good times stalled
Business was bad some had to go
Changes were made owners changed
In time he moved too...
He got a new job
At the former race course
In the bowling alley
He stayed less than 2 years
Internal board fighting
He didn't want to take side
He left and went home
Life in the city came to an end
He had seen enough
Of the cut-throat people
He didn't want to swallow in her trap
He got it out before he was trapped
It was back to routine
Doing nothing in the house
He did save some money
He knew it would not last
He applied for jobs
He wrote many letters
One got him a job
He went up to the hill resort
The city friends all gone
They were sparks in his life
Even today he couldn't remember names
All were just that colleagues in his city life
The cool weather and country living
He liked the resort he stayed for over 5 years
Soaking himself in the cool hilly breezes
Until he was transferred to the North
The cool fresh air
The easy and lazy living
People are friendly
Some parties some fun
He cooled off his good part of his life
On the hill resort before he finally came back to the city
The fun living in the hill resort......
The fasting, get together and parties
Those were the years
Passing through his life on the hill
The footprints he remembered
It changed his life....
