The single storey house

The owner was away for months

Leaving the house unoccupied

Until a stray cat gave birth there

But unlucky for the stray cat

The owner returned 2 days later

She put the kittens in a box

Leaving at her porch for a few days

Every morning the kittens would meow

Too loudly for the neighbours to hear

Less than a week old kittens could do it

They could be a different breed

This morning there is total silence

Maybe the owner has thrown away the kittens

As usual it will be at the hawker's centre

But the kittens will die without feeding

The mother cat didn't make any noise

The whole day she didn't make her call

She is as silence as the mouse in the drain

Maybe she is happy she can find her male cats

Just like some women

Abandoned their babies

Trying to forget the past intimacy

Brought them shame and ridicule

But will they forget their history?

They should take responsibility

Not by abandoning the babies

Leaving them to die

But that's life

Sometimes it is

The abandonment

Life still has to move on
