klang woes - why i never stay in my hometown

klang river at night

New office complex a traffic disaster for Klang
Z IbrahimMar 2, 07 4:40pm

The Federal Highway, first envisioned in 1965 following the separation of Singapore from Malaysia, became the main artery to serve the entire Klang Valley conurbation when Malaysia decided to make Port Klang its premier port then. Opened in 1967, the highway itself has undergone multiple metamorphoses to cater for the ever increasing population and industries on either side of the highway. There was a period in the 80s when traffic jams to KL used to start at the Berkeley Gardens in Klang and a significant portion of Klang residents who worked in KL had to be on the road by 5am. The original four-lane highway soon outlived its purpose despite the building of multiple interchanges in Petaling Jaya. In 1992, Plus Expressway Berhad upgraded the entire highway to a six-lane highway with toll plazas at Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasa. The highway handles such great volumes of traffic at any time of the day that jams can be quite difficult to predict as even minor mishaps have known to cause traffic to back up on either side of the highway for miles. To overcome these jams, new expressways were built to not only relieve the burden on the Federal Highway but to ensure that cargo meant for the ports reached them on time. The New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) stretching from Bukit Raja near Klang town to Jalan Duta in Kuala Lumpur was completed and opened to traffic in 1990. The NKVE was further complemented when the 17.5km Shapadu Highway or the North Klang Straits Bypass Highway (NNKSB) linking North Port to Bukit Raja was opened. The Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas) connects West Port to Sri Petaling and construction began in 1995 and Phase 1 (Seafield-Sri Petaling) was completed in 1997 and Phase 2 (Seafield-Pandamaran) in 1998. Incredibly enough, the NKVE and Kesas highways have no direct interchanges to the Federal Highway and despite the addition of the New Pantai Expressway, residents in Klang - especially South Klang - cannot avoid the Federal Highway to reach their homes after work and this has now become an unbelievable daily nightmare. At 5pm, after you pass the UITM campus, the dreadful jams begin at the Sungai Rasa Toll complex. The six-lane highway narrows down to the original four-lane Federal Highway of yesteryears at Taman Berkeley in Klang. The traffic from the upgraded Jambatan Kota can back-up for five kilometers or more as traffic crawls at this point. You would have thought common sense would prevail and either this stretch would have been upgraded or development on either side curtailed till the highway can cope with traffic - but this is Klang where as the Zakaria Mat Deros affair has shown, anything goes. The Berkeley section of the ‘highway’ is now choked with not only incoming traffic from KL but also from the hundreds of motorists and customers who attend functions and gatherings at the Hokkien Association Building and two Chinese seafood restaurants on either side of the highway which have been miraculously given licences to operate. In addition, three completed condominium complexes - the Regency, Dynasty and Pelangi condominiums - all exit at this section and worse still the ‘highway’ now has to contend with the new but still not completely open giant Centro office complex. On top of this, shophouses and residential homes are being built at the old Chinese Maternity Hospital site over and above the already existing government clinic complex - all still within this stretch. If you think this is incompetent town planning there is, unfortunately, more. As you crawl past the upgraded Jambatan Kota and pass the Majlis Perbandaran Klang (MPK) building on your right and the Land Office Complex on your left, the ‘highway’ suddenly takes an acute turn. On your left, the area at this turn (what used to be Bukit Kota) has now been slashed to make way for Klang’s newest office complex – Prima Klang Avenue. This complex spanning more then four acres and ‘perched on the highest point of Klang’ with ‘four-storeys of shops and six-storeys of offices’ apparently offers ‘an exciting mix of shops comprising food and beverage stores, entertainment outlets, fitness centres, banks and an entire level dedicated to automotive showrooms. Wide frontage and spacious corridors create a pleasant environment for leisure and relaxation. All these come together to make Prima Klang Avenue an innovative one-stop hub, complemented by a scenic landscape with relaxing and majestic water features’ …or so says the developer in his brochures. The complex of course offers ‘easy access via Jalan Jambatan Kota and Jalan Kota, the centre of the business areas, putting it nearby the Klang Municipal Council, Klang District Office, banking institutions and Puas, as well as a walk away from the upcoming new government administration offices’. No doubt this will add up ‘to a steady traffic flow of some 400,000 people a day in this vibrant business area’! Scheduled for completion in mid-2008, Prima Klang Avenue promises to be the pulse of the heart of Klang town. Does the MPK know the consequences and ramifications of 400,000 people ending up at this critical part of the highway hardly a kilometer after Jambatan Kota and 300 meters before the Port Klang/Banting interchange? You don’t have to be an Einstein to realise that traffic will virtually stall for motorists who slow down to gain entry into this new complex. Worse still, the sharp curve is currently already a frequent site for traffic mishaps, what more at a sharp bend with traffic flowing in and out. Even if the developer had been overly optimistic and only 100,000 people converge at the complex and assuming that only 5 percent come in cars, that is 5,000 cars for the allocated 800 car parking lots the developer has reserved. The spillover to the highway will paralyse the KL-Klang Highway. This would mean that traffic which already now backs up to the Sungai Rasa toll gate will now be backing up to UITM. This would also mean that Klangites will either have to spend an additional hour or more on the road trying to get home or leave office two hours later just so this complex can be built at this spot where traffic is narrowed down. You might just as well close the bridge down! Approving and building such a huge complex at this juncture of the highway is akin to building a pesticide factory next to the Klang Gates Dam! Whose idea is this and how is Klang going to face the resultant traffic nightmare? Or is there a proposed massive tolled ring road complex to take traffic away from this area? This cannot be possible as there are no roadworks taking place anywhere nearby and if there were plans indeed for such a traffic dispersal scheme, this complex would already be open next year. It appears that we have learned nothing from the Zakaria Mat Deros incident. How ironical. Selangor’s eighth menteri besar, the late Harun Idris once lived in the bungalow right on top of this ‘highest point of Klang’ as the district officer of Klang. He was later found to be technically corrupt and jailed for misappropriation of funds, the amount of which is going to be minuscule in comparison to the losses this country is going to face once this project is ready by this chopped-up hill. Our civil servants possibly know that this project is going to cost the economy that goes through Port Klang billions, not to mention the hardship it is going to cost the people who stay in Klang and commute to KL/Shah Alam daily. These civil servants do not have the administrative will nor courage to stand up to their political masters. But residents of Klang who pass by this project daily are resigned to the fact that no one in the end will be accountable for the ensuing traffic disaster and as always, the average man on the street will end up paying the price.
Kris Monument

P/s One of those reasons why I left Klang,my hometown of many years. I was born and schooled in this royal town of Selangor. During my younger years then it was green with trees and traffic was a smooth flow. Oh yes I missed those days of my youth. Even my own hideout had disappeared. This was the place I used to catch my fighting fishes and ikan haluan; now it has become a massive housing schemes of Bukit Tinggi and Bandar Botani. I lost my footprints. I of course occasionally passed through my home town to visit my mother and other relatives. Yet I dont hardly know Klang anymore. I always move along the roads I had remembered and those new roads and housing estates I have become an 'outsider' visiting Klang. In those years Klang river had many fishes. When I cycled to school from Pandamaran to Meru I used to stop over at the bridge and witnessed these colorful fishes swimming in the Klang river. Before Pandamaran I was in Klang. Then development came the whole villagers had to move away. This was how I was transported to Pandamaran. Now Pandamaran is congested with shop houses, dwelling homes and heavy traffic. It is not very far to Port Klang and Klang. Now it is easy access to Kesas Highway. It takes about 10-15 minutes to reach Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam. Maybe about 25-35 minutes to reach KL.....The government servants and state government just never understand the problems they make. They dont check first or study the whole areas before approving projects. So Klang residents should send a strong signal in the next election. Kick out the corrupted or weak leaders...

i am stupid to vote BN!

NGOs stupid lamented one stupid minister! When I was in school my teacher said that if you called another person stupid, you were stupid too. There is no two way about it. Our Pak Dalang never walks the talk. It is just a typical politician. I dont see the like of Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye who is one former politician who went the extra mile for the people. He was the former deputy secretary general of DAP and yet every election he won. In fact people said he didnt have to campaign in every election. He could sit at home and still win the election. This type of politician the country needs but where are these people willing to serve the people and the country? What we have in BN are those politicians and cronies who will milk the country at every opportunity. Do we hear what the other ministers are doing? We have one who always talk nonsense calling people stupid here and there and one minister who called others "go to hell!" Conceptualize it in other countries, these ministers have to resign. But not here in Malaysia.....until they are kicked out by the voters otherwise the people who vote them...."magically stupid!" Now we have the ACA DG on his tainted news. It is so simple to answer it. Yet he keeps silence about the allegations by his former Sabah ACA director. I hold the view that nobody wants to bring a person down unless that person has done something wrong. And I believe the person who made the allegations must have enough evidence to pursue his case. IGP has lost his credibility...I think he shouldn't be promoted in the first place (if I think about his handling of Anwar Ibrahim's case 8 years ago) But then of cronyism and you scratch me I scratch you, people get promoted to the highest level which never translates that the people and nation will benefit at all. And then we have the Federal Constitution guarantees "freedom of relgion and worship" yet I found that JAIS rounded up the former Al Arqam members believing that they spread the wrong tenets of Islam. I am no expert on Islam but in my mind nobody is. Religion is something to each individual; it can't be imposed to the masses. Look into Saudi Arabia with Iran and Iraq where each of the countries followed a different path....Torah, Bible, Quran, Buddha, Lord Krishna.....and many more...what are they trying to tell us? Read the 'Footprints of the gods' These gods told the same story of what we have it now. And I voted for BN believing something great could happen. Boy...was I wrong!

months pass so quickly

Imagine 60 days had gone! I didnt do anything great or something worth my living. I sit on my net and browse the life out of me. Cool isnt it? Maybe I am one of those people who have nothing important to do. I had my share a few years ago. I left all behind and lived an easy life. I wish I can travel here and there but then I am not a travelling bug. I prefer honestly to stay at home, read books, view DVDs of pumping up my life and let me dream while I go to sleep or let me float in the world of make believe...In this type of dream sometimes reality can come in. As they use to say "Try it before you call it a day!" Now I am into the first quarter of the year and I dont have much to do at home. Daily routines - water the garden, watch Astro and DVDs, browsing the net or shopping or read newspapers. The last few days the net service was very poor. Even today I have to wait for over 1hour to access the internet. Sometimes I couldnt access it. Streamyx...the delivery system is still damn poor. Paying money for performing services and what will our government do? Nay...the leaders tell you the economic figures but the basic services for the people are down the drain. If USA can change its leaders and party, why can't we bold enough to change it? Are we so afraid of the unknown? Take a leaf from Taiwan or Japan...Then we can learn what are the wrongs done to the country. Currently it is always convenient to label as OSA (courtesy of Dr M era who now lives to regret it going by his speeches and his 'attacks' on the present government) Still I am lucky to browse the internet..

mighty chip ala malaysia

Malaysian production MIGHTY CHIP then what? We have our Mykad and see what happens. We are suppose to have all the facilities done on Mykad but apparently nothing really is happening. The design is meant for the feeling good aura then it will disappear for years. Mykad can't even glue properly...mine has peeled off and I have to glue it back. And the government never tries to make it perfect. Till today people have the same problem like mine....peeling off...long time ago it was made of flexibility where one can crumble it or mend or twist it, it remains the same. But I can't say of Mykad. No doubt every one embraces new technology but it must be tested to see that it can last the distance on its warranty not in a few months then problems surface. If one reads in the mainstream newspapers, it only tells the good part; you dont find bad report in it.

no worry yet get gastric pain...

I am happy nothing to worry day in day out. I don't have to think hard no more. I just have to enjoy my precious time or day. I am not answerable to anybody or on call (those days working); now I am practically free to do what I please. No spending farang($) in the bar....no I dont go for decades. I just hate the smoking environment. I feel I am choking myself instead of enjoying the cool ambience. Yet I got gastric pain on the eve of Chinese New Year until now. I didnt have it for decades. Maybe something acidic I took which I couldn't pinpoint. Too many oranges or Yakut drink? Now I sip low fat fresh milk to ease the pain. So far it is bearable. So I have nothing else to do beside surfing the net yet I get gastric pain which I dont understand at all. There is no pressure now in my life. I am a lucky guy...or perhaps I miss giving orders to workers in a company. But I am enjoying my freedom reaching out to tap my own resources...Psst.....damn it comes on and off...Chow for now!

index hit above 1,200 points

I read the index hit above 1,200 points in the year of the boar. The investors were happy. Maybe they made some pile of money or is it a short term gain? The small businessmen are suffering. I could see why. No business no job available no money to spend no cycle repeats. Robberies have increased. The local people say it is noinde job availability. So thieving and robbery occur quite frequently. Even my own area wasn't spared at all though police car came to ronda yet house break-ins occurred. The government should be transparent in its reporting to the people. It shouldn't be sugar-coated statements which eventually the rakyat would get to know. We aren't idiots or small boys/girls. We know the rights and wrongs and the half truths spinned by the witch doctors. Time to change. We shouldn't allow any more cover ups in the country. The truth should prevail in whatever we do. Dont lie no more!

no snooping dog!

A year or two ago the Cabinet had directed the religious affairs department not to do the Mat Skoding on the Muslim couples. It was then a hot topic in the newspapers. Until some NGOs made protests on infringing the privacy of the people. Now the Trengganu Government is ignoring that directive and set up its own Mat Skoding to spy on the Muslim couples without authority of arrest. Don't the state government read the Federal Constitution at all? I think PM is right to issue the stop order on the Trengganu State Government. I should add he should ask the MB and his state exco to resign! What has the religious dept doing? They should revamp their approaching tactics. In light of is happening, the religious officials should examine what has gone wrong in their approach to teach the religion to the people. When you snoop, you commit a sin whether you perform the act or not. Because you have the intention of doing it. It is still in the teaching of rights and wrongs.

Malaysia going to Ala Taliban? Dont they ever learn at all?

the rakyat lose every turn

Now Rapid will take over the public transport system in Penang. Base on reports Rapid didnt do it too well in the city either. This is like a half baked cake to tell the children mommy made tasty cake come eat it all. Of course the children will come fearing the angry look of their mother.....Likewise in Penang will it be successful with Rapid? I think the authority should say what it means. All the times it is a half baked cake. Never go to the full wrath of the laws. No wonder the problems keep repeating every time. Look at the taxi drivers in Penang...they dont use the meters to ferry people. What do the authority do? Go under cover....no cancellation of licence or take the culprit to court...Nay...it is the weak delivery system....change government change mindset change the direction...Dont believe what the government says....the leaders dont understand their backyards clogged with rubbish, mosquitoes, potholes, thieving and robbery....I should say I am a strong supporter of BN but recent years I felt cheated with their policies and laws. I think I am not the only one here. One must go for change; one shouldnt feel scared of the new horizon, and if one doesnt try, one will not know in the end. It will be just dreams floating till the ground sinks....Now I read the BORR project was increased to $710 million from $410 million. Samy told the MPs in Parliament it was $410 million for the BORR project in Penang(Butterworth) now it had shot up to $710 million without informing the MPs in Parliament. No public viewing of contracts or it is under OSA again? NOw look at the toll agreements where the BN government must write to the companies requesting permission whether the agreements can be published to the public! Imagine the government has to write to the companies for permission to publish....and in the first place what clauses are disadvantaged to the government ultimately to the rakyat? This is the one sided contract and the losers are the rakyat. The BN government is really incompetent! Every agreement must be beneficial and advantageous to the rakyat not to the commercial enterprises...Damn!

the year of the golden boar

The year of the Go ldenBoar comes today Yet I find my area is very quiet indeed. Yesterday was the get together for the family members. Relatives from Hong Kong came to enjoy the family get together. My neighour started his praying to the kitchen god to corrupt him to tell sweet report for him and his family. But they werent around to collect his offerings. I played host and the settings like a hotel fine restaurant or close to it. There wasnt any fire cracker let out the bag. It was just an occasion to get together and talked nonsense. Only after 12 midnight I heard others burned the fire crackers disturbing the quiet night. About 5 minutes later it was peaceful again. I will go home on Monday for awhile then I am back to my own house. I guess I have to take about 8 hours driving to and fro inclusive of resting at home in my mother's house.Think about it I dont really like driving in the congestion full of cars. I know I cant find a place to park my car....at least my mother will be happy...

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Gong Xi Gong Xi!!

election this year - watch out!

The government is giving out goodies to the rural schools. How is the delivery system going to work? At one time it was said that the school books were too many for the kids to carry every day to school. I remembered Najib was the Education Minister who weighed the books the kids had to carry. After much publicity then, nothing was changed. Today the kids still carry those heavy books to school. I had seen those secondary students carry books....on their hands and sling their bags at their backs. I think I know why. It wont cause lopsided outline on their shoulders. If too heavy on one side, it eventually will cause a disalignment on the shoulder - I mean one side is higher than the other. It happened to me when I used to carry big rubber trees on my shoulder walking a distance of say 5km each day when I was poor living on things I could find and sell. Life then for me wasnt all rosy and shine. It was hard work without knowing how tomorrow would come. Now the government announced these goodies to the rural schools. Somehow I feel it is the government planning to hold the general election when the leaders dished out the goodies to the people. Like Malaysia hit 1 trillion! Look around ourselves. Do our businesses growing? Every body is feeling the heat of the rising cost of goods and services. The only group of people/companies aligned to the government make the most out of it. Yesterday I had to pay $0.50 for a local Chinese tea ice which I had enjoyed a year ago at $0.40 which 2 years ago was $0.30. Now the fried kuey teow too increased by $0.20 to $2.00 previously was $1.80. This has hit the pocket hard for most people in the country. When oil price dropped in the world market, the government didnt bring down the oil price in the country. It is dragging to effect the reduction on the oil price. Mind you when the oil price hit high per barrel, it will quickly help the oil companies to increase price. I dont know what the government is doing. It is suppose to help the people who elected them but they are helping the companies than the ordinary voters who put them in office. I used to vote BN for the elections now I have to review my sentiments on the government/BN. One thing I feel the leaders are just hopeless and weak..they can't even tell a good lie....like Malaysia hit $1 trillion...but what is the bottom line? Now EPF announced that withdrawals can be done in 2 days when EPF upgraded its facilities. It should have done many years ago when computerization came into the field. This is another good news to the members of EPF which translated into another way that the general election will be held this year-maybe in September 07. BN is still scared of Anwar Ibrahim. So if BN government holds the election this year, Anwar can't contest because he has to serve his mandatory 5 years on his trapped corruption charge which I strongly believe wasnt true at all..

valentine's day

Valentine's Day arrives. The young and old move along with it or they just let it pass like any other day. Commercial enterprises will catch on the fever and make money out of it. There are those who are willing to pay to show how much they love so and so or to cement their relationships....I think one shouldn't splash it out to tell how much one is willing to spend. It must come from the inner soul. Sometimes things make by hands or words expression to impress will carry weight than those buy in the gift shops. When it has become too commercial I feel it has lost its intended value to share with the other party. I was impressed with today's Star picture of a couple in Taman Kapar, Klang. The wife with good eyes sight hold her husband hands who is blind to carry out their daily activities. She doesn't leave him in a lurch. She loves him through thick and thin, happiness and hardship, smile and sorrow until death takes them away..I think the couple is bless in whatever they do though they find hardship but their love endures through it all. This is what love would be about......not those fanciful dinners or flowers or expensive chocolates or expensive gifts or whatever........I spend my time at home and surfing the net....thinking about it I haven't really belanjar....but I always write my poems expressing my thoughts. To me it is worth many more in diamonds or gold or rubies....

Anyway enjoy your Valentine..

toll agreements

The toll agreements can't be published for the public to study. The companies will sue the government(Nadzri) Why sign these agreements advantage to the companies and hide it under OSA? A contract must be equal to both parties. Here I find it is lopsided beneficial to the companies but not the government or the rakyat. It is a laughing stock that the government could be at the mercy of the companies when it is the latter giving them the jobs. The honest way is the whole Cabinet should resign and let a new group of leaders take over the management of the country until the next election. This doest not augur well for the current administration. There is no accountability and transparency in its dealings. The government must work for the rakyat in a fair and equitable manner but not at the benefits to the companies or links to cronies or agents or relatives. The rakyat should decide in the next poll. If the BN wins again by a landslide, then don't complaint about the unfairness of contracts or delivery system.

US should go home from Iraq

Dr M wants more US soldiers in body bags. I dont agree with him. He should ask the US President to call home his soldiers. Let the Iraqis fight themselves on their own destiny. If the Iraqis doesnt want to learn about peace living, it isnt US problem. It is the Iraqis internal conflict. Every time US wants to muscle in because she has the power, it will eventually collapse due to false premise. It doesnt hold her ground. Dont build a house on a porous ground. It will collapse eventually. Likewise US should learn her lesson in Vietnam. US can't beat Asian. The rise of Asians will be in the 21st century. Look at China and India. These countries will conqueur the world economically beside Japan And South Korea. I think it isnt the body bags issue. It is the policy and the ego of each leader. It is time to come down to the basic of loving thy neighbour...it is the way to peace

Malaysia is living in peace.....until one crazy leader destroys the fabric of society

thieves in the new housing estate

My new housing estate reported many break-ins. As far as I knew of those houses occupied, there are grilled doors for every door or window in the houses. So the thieves went through the roof tiles. Most of the houses robbed were occupants gone out to work or gone for holidays. One of them I heard lost a car! Imagine the car key left in the house! House owners shouldn't be so careless...this is inviting for the thief to easy off load the goods. Currently most of the houses are unoccupied. It is between houses that the thieves could make the robbery. Around this housing estate too most of the houseowners dont light up the premises. And I wonder why fixed up the lights for? Safe electricity? And lose valuables? My new house is known amongst the people here for lighting it up at night. It is standing out differently with the other houses. It is a very cosy place for me with my garden and waterfall. Anyway my house is fully CCTV....I hope the detectives who stayed around here will get the thieves. I strongly believe they should know who did the job.

act of god my dear!

The floods in Johore causing damages to a tune of nearly $550 million(Samy) The funding comes from the taxpayers for the greed of businessmen and the poor supervision of the state government. The floods have been going on for years; everyone thinks it is the work of nature or God. My view is the poor planning and greed of the people running the companies. In fact the state government too must take the blame for the lack of supervision on the projects. I dont know what the town council president is doing....sitting in the office(?) and not knowing what is on the ground. If my experience dealing with it, I think the town council is incompetent in handling the portfolios in its charge. Now the flood had receded...everyone is facing of how to deal with the daily routines and in time it will be faded into a distance memory. Will the authority learn? I dont think so. Because the town council president(s) isnt/aren't passionate enough to look into areas under his/their preview. This is why thing always get foul up along the way.....and the people will suffer of the incompetence in the town council(s). In my adopted area for example, the class F contractor came to mend the potholes..but only at selected spots. Those potholes of 5oo meter the contractor didnt do it. Who comes to supervise the work done? In about 2 weeks or so I think the potholes will appear. So do it again and claim on the same potholes...This is inefficiency and waste of public funds. Why dont they learn at all?

Malaysia too many red tapes because of no supervision!!

we are the "bosses" arent we?

It was reported that the government used $11 billion to bail out companies. Yet it didnt disclose why the government under AAB did it. Apparently the people are in the dark. We are suppose to be the 'bosses" of the government yet we are shut off after the election. These ministers including the PM and DPM are there for the solely purpose to service the people who elected them. The key word "service to the rakyat" You and I know it will be conveniently forgotten with a wink of an eye. Perhaps we are just children always playing in the drains knowing nothing about affairs of the state/country. So these ministers know best. The people have been taken for a ride long enough. Time the journey of this country should change course before she plunges herself into a deep ravine.

notebook in service centre

I wasnt available to write my log. Nay...my notebook was sent for checking and servicing for over 13 days. Apparently there wasnt any fault with my notebook. For those days missing I watched movies on Astro and did some shopping to feed into the new house. I managed to get the furniture for the house - chairs, coffee table, divan, LCD TV and home theatre system and side tables for the rooms. I haven't finished with it yet. I am still sourcing for table lamps...I still can't find the ones I am trying to blend into the house. Now it is dry weather and my garden turning brown. I water the grass everyday yet it doesnt help....Well El Dino is coming.....dry spell on its way........

what's wrong with a baby girl?

Go to fullsize image

I read in recent report a mother committed suicide when she delivered a baby girl. She expected to have a male child. Now what's wrong with a baby girl? I always believe a female has most benefits than a male. In the time of hardship and what's not, a female can do wonders than a male. A man can walk out of his family or neglect his children but a female will nourish and prosper the family alone with patience and gritty to carry the family through. A man always go for the easy way out - leave the family and go for another. Of course I am not saying every guy is such a coward in the family. I am saying it does happen in the society here or elsewhere. So I can't understand a mother committing suicide because she has a baby girl. She should be proud that she is a mother.....delivering gift of god to the world.

sony music system

I had Sony Bravia LCD TV 40inch into my living room area together with its DVD 5 tier player. It cost me $9,500/- for the package set. The LCD TV alone will cost me $8,100/- whereas the DVD player will cost around $2,700/-. So I bought the package which would cost be less. So it stood proudly in my new house. I go back to watch programmes at night. Right now I haven't shifted in as yet. I go back to sleep over. And day time I still spend in my old house writing in the internet. The new house has no phone line as yet. I found out phrase 1 had telephone lines. I am in phrase 2 still I have to wait for the developer to pay deposit to TNB before poles and lines can be connected for phrase 2 houses. Currently the whole housing area is not occupied fully. I can count something like 20 houses occupied and few hundreds are unoccupied as yet. People buy for speculation. And I know these house buyers got burned on their fingers. Because no buyer to buy the ready made house.

toll protestors

Go to fullsize image

The recent toll protestors were injured by the police even though these protestors went about it smoothly. I thought the police personnel should exercise restraint in dealing with this type of protest. The toll hikes affect every motorist including the police and their families and relatives. They should allow them to hold the protest peacefully and let the govenment understands the situation on the ground. The contractual agreements are lopsided at the expense on the rakyat. The government should publicly published it so that the people can judge it. Currently the government dares not do it because I see there is something to hide. Actions always carry the weight in gold than mere words express in the complex legal jargon which only benefits the legal fraternity. No...the government is hiding it under OSA(official secrets act). Accountability and transparency throwing with the wind.....................Will there be charges file against the police personnel and the officer in charge for hurting innocent people? There shouldn't be another cover up. I think we have so many. The worst one was the Anwar Ibrahim's case......

bloggers sued 2

Many views had been expressed about bloggers got sued by NST. There is a fund being set up to defend Jeff Ooi and Rocky Bru from the people in NST. The PM allowed the suing to be carried on inspite of what the people had voiced their sentiments. NST is controlled by the pro-government. This is indirectly telling people there is no such thing as freedom of speech in any medium in the country. This will cost votes in the next election which could be this year or the earliest 2008. And I think BN will feel the wrath of the voters this time around. For me I have enough of the speeches and the double standard dishes out to favoured people and companies. I strongly believe there is nothing wrong in their articles about NST but I have find out in court what the lawyers will present the case to the Judge. Let the battle begins!

black puppies

The two black puppies have been tied up by the owner. I dont see them sneaking into my garden yesterday. So I was free of dog shit and urine. I am quite happy now. Every morning I survey my garden before I go to my other house. My CCTV doesn't capture any dog images. In a way I know the owner didnt release the puppies at night. I hope the owner keeps it the way it is until the puppies growing up around a month time. Today I hardly hear the barking of the puppies. Maybe the owner has given them away or takes to her village. I always maitain that dog owner(s) should take responsibility and care of the animal. It is like a step child which needs constant supervision and training. When one has no time to do it, it is advisable not to rear dogs.

Two days ago when these puppies sneaked into my garden around 12.00 midnight, I came out from the house and caught them. One I let go through fence. The puppy squeezed through after some effort. The other one I captured I knocked its head telling the puppy 'dont come here and shit' and I knocked 3 times on its head andd gave the puppy a kick. It ran like crazy and quickly escaped through the fence. I thought these puppies had learned its lessons. Boy I was wrong? By morning I saw two dog shit in my garden....fresh ones to let me know that my advice didnt work
But so far now I haven't seen the puppies sneaking to my garden. If I see the puppies, I will throw them away. I prefer dogs wait outside for permission to come in. These dogs I believe are good dogs....

the good feeling no more

LKY wants the BN Chairman to hold a conference to explain to the BN delegates about the economy of the country. He said he heard about the rumblings on the ground about the state of affairs in the country. I agree with LKY. People kept talking about the poor economic situation in the country yet our PM seems sitting coolly in his office. Perhaps his advisors never tell him what is happening on the ground. I don't think he needs it. He should walk his talk and he can know first hand about the sentiments of the rakyat. Imagine my bowl of laks has gone up to $2.80 up by 30% Now it has become too expensive in a small town where I plonked myself thinking that small town cost of living should be manageable as compared to KL or PJ or Shah Alam or even Klang. I know of these big towns where it can cost me anything from $5 a bowl to $8 on the roadside stall. Property slumps has arrived. The government never informs the public about the currrent situation. Many houses are left empty - sold or unsold? I don't know yet. Factories are closing down or shifting to other countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and China. Even the FDI too had gone from the country. Only sometimes I heard about factory upgrading its facilities and then a beautiful write up was published. But the factories shut down werent put up for the public consumption. Lately I heard a factory in Nilai is going bust and affecting about 7,000 workers. Yet I dont hear any official reply in the press. Perhaps every one is busy reading about the floods in Johore. I pity the people there or even other states or my home state for that better for the greed and corruption on the wrong planning of developments. In the end the people have to suffer but the wrong approaches done by the government and greedy businessmen..As the saying goes 'we profit what we planted' I dont feel the bouncy glow in myself. I feel so quiet in the country. And I dont see our PM in the front pages of newspapers. Has he lost his magic touch now? Words he had won then but action needs to be desired. The economy is moving at a slow pace.....toll hikes again. People protest and got arrested (21 persons) But seditious speeches no arrest what say you oh Police?

dogs shit

Go to fullsize image

I can't understand dog's owners. The owners want to keep dogs. It is fine with me. But when they dont leach their dogs and keep the animals healthy it becomes someone's problem. My garden is attacked by these dogs. Two black puppies came to shit in my garden. At one time I thought it was the cat. I saw an orange cat in my garden. Of course the cat ran away then. When I surveyed around I saw a pile of shit on the pearl grass. I scooped it up and buried underground. Next day in the morning I saw the same cat again but it hopped over the concrete fence and disappeared. During these times I didnt see the black puppies in my garden yet. Then one day in the morning I saw two black puppies huddled at a corner. I caught one and the other ran away through the iron gate. So I released the other black puppy and it ran away quickly. I walked around the garden and I saw dog shit. It was the same shit I saw few days ago. Now I scooped it up and buried once again. In a way I was quite annoyed now. So this morning I saw a pile of dog shit but the puppies weren't in the garden. My box of sand was scattered around the porch and my plant leaves crumbled into pieces laying on the tile floor. This was too much . Now I am going to catch these puppies and throw them away. I have no grudge against animals but I want owners to discipline their animals. If they can't do that, I think they shouldnt rear animals. I have enough of dog shit in my garden and the time I have to scoop it up and clean the place. Opposite the owner's house is a plot of vacant land where the owner use to plant crops and trees. The puppies can shit there for all I care but they dont. They have to crawl over to my garden and shit on it. My other house I find I have bird shit every morning. This is another story..

bloggers sue

NST sued Bloggers Jeff Ooi and Bro for their comments in the blogs. Now I see the big giant wants to silent the small fry in alternative comments. Why can't the big fish let the small fish swim in the oceans? There is enough space for each to move around. Why need to establish perimeter to restrict one movements? Let them do their own censorship. I like to say my piece in whatever forms I think I should comment in my blog. Those who have done wrongs should be answerable for their actions and not covered their acts through litigation or sue people to silent them. Every time there is a gossip there must be something brewing in the waves. Otherwise people have other things to do. I believe there is always something to look at when one says out of the ordinary. It is for the person concerned to admit to it privately and changed for the better and not act arrogantly to silent the minority. This is a test case for the bloggers. I want people to have freedom to express their views in their own blogs. How many of us know of any legal laws in depth in our daily lives? We write our views thinking someone will change for the better or accept alternative view points in discharge of one's duties and responsibilities. Let this freedom of views flow in the blogs. It is just a small droplet in the cyber space and how many will visit your blog? Sometimes a few at times hardly so. May God be kind to our views in the blogs

town council

Taiping Town Council has become the first council to designated all the councillors roads to check and recommend for improvement. In line with this concept I wish all the other town councils should adopt this pro-active approach in helping the areas to be in tip-top condition through the years. This is in addition to the other duties for the councillors to take care off. In this way I hope things will keep improving. But so far nothing is announced on the other town councils. Sometimes I wonder why these government officials never take a leaf from Singapore. And I am sure they had studied how Singapore managed her affairs on roads and rubbish disposal, licences and regulations. I still it is the attitude of these officials. The government should mix the civil servants racial composition. There shouldnt be any one race dominates in the agencies or departments. Every higher post must be opened to all races. Right now it is not really happening in the true sense of our multi-racial composition. This is not in spirit of the charter founded by our founding fathers. BN is only on the facade but the spirit is lacking in its implementation. Look around us. It is the rule and divide. The government criticised the British government of her rule and divide game then yet now the government takes the same path to divide its own citizens......will the elected government learn at all in the end?

bleeding gums link to cancer?

Go to fullsize image

Bleeding gums link to cancer? We were told that it is lack of Vitamin C and poor brushing techniques. Now this! Normally the dentist will advice to brush twice daily, floss it and gurgle it too. Eat fresh fruits and drink alot of water. Though I dont know how far this is true but it is best to take care of one's health all the time. Fresh fruits help but also enough sleep to repair tissues..which I think most of us will not find it. There are many problems besetting the sleeping patterns. Even count sheeps will not let you go to sleep. The areas are people, children, money, colleagues, relatives, in-laws, parents, brothers/sisters, friends, religion, sex and bosses too. You think you can sleep well when issuess crop up at home and in work place? I dont think so. One has to solve it then sleep can flow easily.

cherish life

Prostitution one way to earn a living and enjoy with it. This is what millions got. It isn't going away. There is a trade for it. So whether it is forced to do or volunteer for it one has to look at it objectively. I can't say women shouldn't do it. Because men and women do it every day every second every time either legally or through paid services. There is a need for these women to work. I am not a god or or a saint. Every time I think of beautiful women they make me dream. To me it makes my world look sane at least while I am dreaming about it. Reality is I am looking at pictures....psst....searching along the internet too like up close and personal...hehehe My point is nobody should surrender life just because someone forced you to do it. When life is at stake, it is better to do it and think of ways to get it out too. So I couldn't understand the two women hanged themselves because in a note one said they were forced to do prostitution. One has to act smart and know the rules. This isnt a game. It is real of life or death. Initial investigation it was reported as sudden death because of no break in or forced entry. Physically it was thought that they committed suicide. But evidence had shown they could be hung by someone(s) whom the sisters knew. Now the police has to look at a different angle. Personally, I dont think the sisters did it to themselves. They had their lives ahead of them. It isnt easy to take own life no matter how one has to speculate. At least the person has totally been possessed by the demons where his/her resistance is very low of fire. I also like to read mysterious novels - real or imagine. When life is at stake, it is better to do as asked. Principles shouldn't apply. Life is the greatest form one has to cherish.

the woes set in

No neighbour will help you unless you help yourself. This is the truth in any crime scene. You think your neighbour will play the good Samaritan for your troubles. I say you better get ready for the silent treatment. I came from a kampong village and I could differentiate the neighbourliness amongst the villagers but I couldn't find it happening in towns or cities. I am practically have to find ways to protect my home and myself. Crimes have increased in many parts of the country. You read in newspapers about robberies and snatch thieves. Yet it was always the faults of the victim not the thief so said a deputy minister. With this line of thinking coming from the Cabinet what chances have the ordinary people got? Houses on public auction announced in the newspapers. Many housing agents too have houses to sell. I already knew about the housing slum about 2 years ago yet the government never plays its role right. Jobs are not many to be found. Some factories had closed down or some shifted operations. The government should announce ways to curb factories shifting to China or Thailand or Vietnam. Incentives and packages must be very attractive to reign in these bosses to stay in the country. I feel the current PM doesn't feel the bouncy feeling on the economy. He is taking things very slow indeed! Now the floods in Johore getting worst with the falling rain. Many towns are affected and people are sent into flood relief centres. Now calling for volunteers to assist in relief work in Johore. I feel the situation will turn bad. Every little napoleon will try to be the king because this little man can get away with it. Because the top is sleeping!

life goes on and on

Go to fullsize image

Life goes on. Flood or no flood; corruption or unfriendly smile, poor or rich, thieves or robbers, and or too many forms to set up a factory, the flow must go. The forces will not be stopped. The engines will push forward for the better or worst. Murderers, rapists, religious fanatics or peeping toms, wayward wanderers, mental patients or whateve ills society has, nothing will stop the development paces muchrooming around the country. Drug addicts, fornicators, conmen, quack doctors or mediums, witchcraft and lazy people, the transformation will be made though the ills of the society keeping pace with it. It is our own creation dividing the lines of the good and bad. The emotional stresses and traumas trigger many suicidal incidents in the society; albeit some are fatal indeed. Like the recent cases of a couple died in the car of carbon gas through the exhaust pipe and two sisters hung themselves on the ceiling fan. Did they think they could solve problems in this way? Paradise is above the ground; hell is buried underground!! And yes....heavens high in the galaxy far beyond our imagination and eyes; perhaps our mind can imagine it. We are born for a purpose so it is best we finished our term not half way through and we disappear. Nay...we lose our values and the conditions of our existence. I know life must go on and on..

goods hike

Go to fullsize image

This New Year goods and services will increase. Visit Malaysia Year 2007 welcome to the cost of rising prices. Though I hear reports that it won't increase but reality bites. How come the minister or prime minister never goes to the ground and see what is happening? Making speeches people forget after the talk. It is the concrete result that would make the difference. Nay I have to pay more now. My regular stall here has increased his selling price. A bowl of assam laksa jumps to $0.30 to $2.80 previously was $2.50 even meat mee soup jumps by 10%. When the petrol was increase the cost of goods jumped too. Now nearer to CNY it jumps up again. Will the minister really go to the market and find out? I doubt these ministers ever do that unless it is near to election time then I could find them walking in the market or hawkers' stalls. Every election it is the same routine. Time to change. The present government has served its purpose. For nearly 50 years the rakyat gave them to rule. But what happen in the end? We pay through our noses to feed these ministers for not helping the people by their business friends. I read somewhere the petrol price should be $1.42/litre instead of current $1.92/litre. Yet the government never changes it but allowed the petrol companies to collect the extra $0.50/litre. On top of that the government allowed the toll companies to increase the toll charges on its lopsided contracts. If they have the hearts of the people, the government should take over the companies and dismantle the tolls. Perhaps the government can introduce it within the city limits so that it wont get congested other areas should be free flow...As I said before previtization projects cost the people traumas. Because it benefits some people at the expense of the general populace. Like the case of our road tax discs. It can't last the season. Even for a half year road tax disc it starts to peel off within 3-4 months. And JPJ will charge you $50 for a replacement when in the first place it is the product that is flawed!! Will the PM take corrective action on this? I dont think he sees his own road tax disc on his cars or official cars. He should go and take a look every time he walks into his car(s) Now Cuepacs want salary increase but the delivery system is still very bad! The civil service should have equal proportion of the races in the workforce. In this way Malaysia can progress in the globalized world. Ketuanan Melayu is for the politicians who always wanted to tell lies anyway. If you listen to these people, you puke it in your brain. They never get scared of The Lord...Pity really that we elect these people to power and eventually we get booted out...Next time play wise.

hike the rates you fall

PM said it is fair to raise the toll charges in the Klang Valley. But the demonstrations by the NGOs, ordinary people and opposition parties told him a different agenda. The majority of the people are suffering of the many hikes in his administration. Even MCA too went on the demonstration on the toll hikes though it was censored in the main newspapers. The agreement is lopsided benefitting the company. The responsible government should publish its agreement so that the people will know how the elected government runs its affairs for the people. Right now I think the PM never tells the truth. A business is a risk. Any company knows it. But do our government know about it? I dont think so. This toll affair will make the rakyat angry of the government by making the companies richer while the ordinary people suffer...The government for the people; nay it is more like the government for the business people..BN wont get it good next time around!!!!!!!

kota kemuning/subang parade

I was in Kota Kemuning on 6 to Jan 07. I was attending my grandniece one month old celebration. I went there just to show my face and ate some food there. With this type of celebration it was eat and eat. Later at the tail end of the dinner, I had some chit chat with a British couple about places of interests in Malaysia - Malacca, Cameron Highlands, Fraser's Hill, Penang Island and Langkawi. This couple has chosen Malaysia as their 2nd home. They travelled alot. The last posting they were in Japan teaching English Language to the Japanese. At the end of the dinner, I stayed in Section 31/104c facing the golf field. Early in the morning the workers start cranking up the machines....and the early morning blast of music. I think the residents there will surely file complaints to the Golf Club Management...At one time there were many snakes crawling over to the houses nearby. Since the company completed its projects on its driving range and sports building, the unkempt areas had gone. Now no snakes around..Over all it is still a quiet place away from the traffic flow in the day and night. On 7/1/07 lucky didnt get traffic jam somewhere in Subang...there was a public demonstration against toll hike!. I was in Subang Parade looking at the new renovation works and passed my time looking at things like handphones and houses for sale in Shah Alam(Currently not thinking about buying a property in Shah Alam yet..) Had teabreak at Delifrance where the service was very slow and houseflies were flying around. The workers should be proactive looking into the hygienic part of the food display on the counter...Drinks took a long while to arrive. Ordered pizza never came though the outlet manager came to say sorry because its salamandar broke down! Cancelled the order paid for the others and left.

Malaysia...the government should not allow the toll hike!

m & a

Every time a company announces about its M & A, the shares will go up. So somebody will make money on the shares. The company will send statement to the Bursa Malaysia of its MOU then nicely put subject to Bank Negara's clearance. I think the government should stop this practise. It is akin to building a house without permit - build first obtain approval later. This is what happening in M & A. There must be watch dogs set up independently to view the scenes in the corporate world. Bank Negara should review its role in this sector. If it is overworked(as it always claims in the government agencies) it should let go of its policing. Let a reputable public accounting firm to evaluate the company's intentions to protect the investing public not to be conned by the lofty statements and guaranteed profits. Like the recent case of EPF nearly conned by a defunct company of $15 million. What will the government do? I think the entire Board should be replaced and bring in a mixture of professionals into EPF. It is the working people money yet the EPF officials dont take good care of it. I just hope nobody is going to lose his/her life saving in EPF. Me included.....

changes the landscape of politics

Go to fullsize image

I suppose the government is seriously considering the demands of the Cuepacs. As I said before, the civil servants should buck up and improve the delivery system to the people. And other thing the government should trim the civil service force. It is too fat. Too many deadwoods spoil the loop...Cuepacs wanted to increase the civil servant intake basically for the organization to look very good at the expense of the taxpayers. The government is elected by the people for the people but it never happens when the election is over. Will the people ever learn? Now front page in The Star EPF nearly conned of $15 million for a defunct company EPF has so many professionals in its employ yet what they are doing? I can only say the officials have no interest for the funds under their control...The government should open up the Accounts of the EPF to the public. So many contracts and buying aren't transparent at all. Two years ago I read about EPF renting a whole building for something like $2 million a month which it could buy or build it. But no EPF officials rented the whole building....because it isnt their money. I dont what happen to it....I dont see a follow up in the press. Likewise Petronas should also publish its accounts to the public. Just dont hide it under OSA....This Act should be abolished. I can only think of a new government to tackle the woes of the rakyat...which remind me of Anwar Ibrahim- the former deputy prime minister and finance minister - whom I think can introduce changes in the government of his day. Will the people make a choice? Will they want it to get empty pockets in their lives? The majority of living day to day should swing the votes and make it into history as a force that changes the landscape of politics..

no plan yet for 2007

It is the beginning of the New Year and I couldnt blog as I like. The internet line is so damned slow. I guess I have to find my own ways to blog. New Year gone. I am the same as before. Running in my mind exploring it with my creativity. The lines of my dreams I begin to lay it out plain. It is coming out alive.....just for me. I took my years to get some desired result and I dont complain as much as I want. I begin to explore now. So I will have something new to think about. New Year went for steamboat in a restaurant with relatives. Only 5 of us attended. The rest were in Shah Alam/KL of which they had their own too. In Hong Kong my nieces had their own celebration. Other than that there wasnt anything new as always with the past years. What are my plans for 2007? Zero..................my mind is relaxing...

snoring

Snoring is a sleeping condition that disturbs the sound asleep of others. Many people snore one way or another in their lives. It doesn't make it a good night sleep. At one time I thought only fat people snore because of the blockage to the nose or perhaps the breathing condition is blocked. Now I find it isnt fat or thin people. It affects people who may have medical problem. Science is still finding out the problem. People snore owing to the vigorous exercise too. I know for a fact it happens to me. Of course it doesnt happen all the times. It happens occasionally when I do heavy exercise. Though I always check my body weight but it still happens. Anyway I am a light sleeper....I find this article in the Yahoo website on snoring interesting read :-

No, I'm not talking about the thoughts that have raced through your bed partner's mind! I'm talking about obstructive sleep apnea.
Approximately five out of every 100 snorers have sleep apnea (that's 2-4 percent of the adult population in America). For most people, snoring is just an annoyance, but for sufferers of sleep apnea, snoring can be a significant alarm system.
People with sleep apnea have short periods during sleep where they stop breathing. These periods last anywhere from 10 seconds to 40 seconds and can occur as many as 400 times per night. If you do the math, this means that the average person with sleep apnea spends more than three hours a night not breathing normally or not breathing at all. That can't be healthy.
It's not.
Symptoms of sleep apnea include:
Loud snoring
Choking sounds during sleep
Falling asleep during the day
Trouble with memory and attention
Irritability
Decreased libido
Impotency in men and menstrual irregularities in women
Heartburn
Dry mouth in the morning
Morning headaches
Do you recognize these symptoms in yourself or your loved one? Persons with sleep apnea have a higher death rate than the average person, are five times more likely to be in a fatigue-related car accident, are 10 times more likely to have a stroke, and have high rates of hypertension and cardiac arrhythmias.
Snoring is one of those things that we don't tend to pay a lot of attention to. In fact, many people don't even bring it up when they talk to their doctor. An overnight sleep study is necessary to document sleep apnea, but, trust me - everyone will rest easier if the condition is treated properly.
Perhaps this is one item you should add to your new year's resolution list. Do any of you know anyone with sleep apnea? Or do you suffer from it yourself? If so, share your experiences.

rendezvous in a taxi

Go to fullsize image

What has happened to the college students? Having sex or sex romp in a taxi. This was highlighted in the Star newspaper. The uni students paid $100/- for the taxi driver to cruise them around while they were having sex. Mana nak letak muka ni? Tak malu ke? Sampai macam anjing direka...The taxi driver must have blood pumping into his veins though he has to concentrate on his driving. The uni students can check into a a cheap hotel in the city. It costs maybe less than $20 or the most check into a modest hotel which I think the rate is $60/- per day. Aren't they forget about using their minds? Or I had read the message wrong....perhaps they dare each other as human beings we dont remember much the next day...I mean the spectators...only the actors and actresses will remember...Flood in Johore water flow in the taxi..

wide world wait

The WWW is in emergency ward. The doctors are attending to it. Along the corridor they whisper what to do with it. It is now on life supporting gadget pumping it up to stay alive. The world will go on living as usual. Some will get angry; others will curse out loud and they are others who just dont know what to do....Back to the old fashioned way I suppose. Pen and paper to write..I had this problem many days ago. Sure I grumbled at TM Net. But when it is a monopolistic company one cant do anything about it. Unless the government opens it up for other players to come in then we can have good value on our subscriptions. Then my keypad got angry with me - it went on strike. So I closed my notebook and kept in the bag. When I returned back after a few days in Kota Kemuning I got my notebook out and what did I find? It is recovered for now. I find so far nothing is wrong with it. Yet the line is still very slow...

my experience in floods

I had my fair share of floods. During my early kampung days I had seen flooding in my village. It came suddenly in the early morning. The water raised up to 3 feet in less than 5 minutes. At that time I thought it couldnt happen but it did. The house was flooded but we didnt have many things of value so I swam out to take care of the logs. Many kampung friends came out to keep things or help others in need of extra hands. The only fear we had then was the water snake. It used to happen during flooding times. By afternoon the water subsided and we managed to wash and keep our things in order. The other was along the Temerloh trunk road on my way to Kuantan. The water level raised up which I didnt know then. I listened to the weather forecast which was sunny and I didnt know it was flooding in the town. My car managed to drive through but it was stalled in the middle of it luckily for me I managed to restart the car and drove to higher ground. The last one was quite scary. I was going to Bahau. The police man asked me to drive through the oncoming water and my car swerved to the left inching nearer to the stream. I got my hair stood on end because of the pullin effect of the water. Again I managed to cross it safely. I blew a sign of release....Nowadays I am on dry land....selamat selalu...

flood here flood there and my pockets losing...

Flood here flood there and flood everywhere........even my pockets too get flooded with extra costs to pay to the government for its one sided contracts. Toll charges, electricity hikes, gas increases, water up the rate and cost of goods too. Yet a minister says the cost of goods shouldnt increase when toll charges hike. Does he know simple economic? When you increase one level it automatically increases another. Business shall not absorb the cost increases. It is profit driven not social contracts. So the people will pay. We elect this present government to look after the voters but we have been taken for a ride too long. Change the government since it doesnt take care of the voters. Every time the government increases rates supporting the business community, the people have to pay for its inefficiency. Long ago the government wanted to stabilise the DVD/CD prices but owing to the hue and cry of the business community, the government put a new minister to handle and that was the end of the story. The business community won and we have to pay higher cost to purchase DVD/CD. I go buy pirated versions to show my annoyance that the business community tries to make more money out of the people. It is no joke that it costs $45 for a CD on piracy I get it for less than $7. The business community in this case the music company can sell it between $16-18 and still makes money but no the company wants to make 2 or 3 times profit. So I have seen. The officers raid the piracy and music industry hikes up the price. I boycott it. Because long time ago I bought originals but its quality sulks then. So now I dont buy.....Cuepacs want to increase salary for its members. The government shouldnt give it to them. I dont think Cuepacs can claim it has done improvement in its delivery system. I wrote a letter to Majlis Bandaran about a road with two names and personally handed the letter; yet till today after more than a year I dont receive any reply or response at all. This one fine example that the delivery system should be working 100% all the times. Read the reports about complaints in the newspapers Cuepacs and from there make your own judgements. Every time the government adjusts salary, the people have to pay. It is better to be on productivity driven concept. Those who are really helping the people and proven they are the ones making the difference should be awarded not simply across the board. Do not claim that for more workers...I had seen before in the government departments. Go take a look and see what these officers are doing and then tell the government. Dont sit in the air cond offices go and walk about and multi tasks the jobs which can be done easily in the government departments. My rumblings have no bearing yet I hope somewhere some place people will go for the change. It is high time we change. It is unfair to hide behind OSA for the government contracts. Time it should be transparent and let the people decide.

see who's talking?

Deputy Umno Youth Chief should advice himself and his party members not to string out the racial issues. The recent UMNO General Assembly had a go at the non-Malays. I dont know what the police will do. I read reports had been lodged and UMNO supreme council had severely warned these fire-brands. They should be sacked from the party. In a way the party allowed it to happen. Now the party wants damage control......After 49 years the leaders never learn. So I produce this article courted from Malaysiakini:-

Deputy Umno Youth head Khairy Jamaluddin, when declaring open the People’s Progressive Party’s Youth wing convention recently, warned that there are limits to freedom. He said while there was the open atmosphere where government policies and leaders could be criticised by the media and where issues could be discussed, there were limits that needed to be adhered to. According to him, racial sensitivities still exist and that we should respect these boundaries. The government, he said, could revert to a more controlled atmosphere if certain people chose to abuse this freedom. He hoped that the few people who were bent on testing the limits would not be too extreme as this would prompt restriction. Khairy warned that: ‘Umno Youth will come down hard on those who breach the limits and ignore the boundaries of law and racial sensitivities’. The question is why warn others when much of the needless saber-rattling and blood-curdling talk comes first from Umno? In fact, for the first time Malaysians witnessed the worst manifestation of negative, divisive and destructive polemics when speakers at the Umno general assembly ignored the boundaries of law and sensitivities. Remember the Malacca delegate Hasnoor Sidang Hussein who bluntly stated that: ‘Umno is willing to risk lives and bathe in blood in defence of race and religion’. Remember the Terengganu delegate Razali Idris who reminded that: ‘Malay rights cannot be challenged, or else the Malays will run amok and May 13 will recur’. Remember Umno Youth exco member Azimi Daim who said: ‘When tension rises, the blood of the Malay warriors will run in our veins’.
Remember the Umno delegate from Perlis who directed his question at youth chief Hishammuddin Hussein Onn: ‘Datuk Hisham has unsheathed his keris, waved his keris, kissed his keris. We want to ask Dato Hisham when is he going to use it’. Prior to these Malaysians have witnessed how Umno Youth members violently disrupted the
Apcet II conference and we have not forgotten that one Umno Youth exco member, during the Suqiu controversy, threatened to burn down the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall.
We were equally alarmed when recently, a group of
Umno members barged into the MCA Kelana Jaya member of parliament’s office and demanded a retraction and apology for his speech in Parliament simply because he had raised concerns of the lack of non-Muslim places of worship.
Even the concept of Bangsa Malaysia held dearly by Malaysians has suddenly become unacceptable and untenable to Johor Menteri Besar Ghani Othman who fears that the concept could pose a threat to national stability. Instead of using the concept of Bangsa Malaysia to strengthen racial unity, particularly when Malaysia is just one year away from celebrating 50 years of nationhood, there are politicians who endure to ensure divisiveness. Thus it must have come at no surprise when New Sunday Times (of all newspapers!) recently reported that since November this year, more Malaysians than ever are selling their properties and cars
seeking to migrate.
According to a migration agent, they used to get on an average 15 to 20 enquiries a day. However between Nov 14 and Nov 19 alone there were 6,500 enquiries for Australia, 5,500 enquiries for New Zealand, 4,000 enquiries for Canada and 3,500 enquiries for other countries including Norway and Switzerland. And who exactly are migrating? According to another migration agent, the callers were of all races - Malays, Chinese and Indians. The newspaper also reported that real estate agents also revealed that an increasing number of people mainly from middle-income groups and above and owned properties worth RM250,000 and more. They wanted to sell their houses and the reason given by most of them is that they are migrating and needed to dispose of their houses. Like real estate agents, used car dealers are also getting enquiries from would be emigrants. A used car dealer is quoted as saying there was an increased number of sellers in the market recently. Irresponsible acts, divisive, provocative and seditious polemics from politicians hoping to score sectarian points has - without any doubt - done grave damage to the Malaysian psyche and to nation-building particularly. There is indeed quiet soul-searching going on. Importantly, Malaysians are most concerned about their future and more importantly, about the destiny of Malaysia. Many are fearful that recent events may well be the manifestation of a future Malaysia. Perhaps it is the apprehension and the wariness of the future which is forcing many to consider migrating. More worrying is the fact that even Malays are considering to emigrate. That to me does not bode well for Malaysia and Mala
ysians.

here comes the brides 2

The menu chart was out of date. Now one gets to see the real models on display. The Chinese guys will go shopping. Young, vibrant and energetic brides and not forgetting pretty/beautiful and good in bed. These foreign women do not mind the ages of these guys. So these men should have a good time. Viagra to blame? Ahem! Anyone looking at me? Even the lonely old men who have the money will go for second helping..I think the China men got burned with the China Dolls. Now they have Vietnamese women to choose. Go select pay the price. They got brides on the spot. Like the olden days....let love blossom after this....But we are in the 21st century.......The price tag something like $15-20k. I think it is a good buy!!!!!!Pssttt...will you do it? I want to get it for free.....hehehe The Malays will go for the Indonesian women or the Pakistani women. So our local women have competition then or perhaps they too will find white men/black men leaving the local guys behind...What happen to our sense of direction? Too much work with too much money making minds? Book now pay later scheme? It is a degrading social structure. It shouldnt have happened here.

JB flooded

Johor flooded
courtesy The Star

JB flooded. Any new in the country? Nay! The city planners should walk over to Singapore and learn something there. Why Singapore never gets flooded? The town planners used to travel overseas on work study trips but in the end they never learn. Or they fail to put in place what they had seen and what needed to be done. JB as reported too has many potholes. The JKR engineers should walk the streets or cruise the streets to make sure the roads are potholes free or the drainage properly maintained. These engineers should be given say 5km to walk about every week. Find any problem it should be rectified within 24 hours. Look at KL -when there is heavy down pour it is flooded. Yet our government never learn at all. Every time developments come to the states, there is flooding in the low lying areas and at times in the towns/cities too. Profits shouldnt be the motive for upgrading living standards. Job creations shouldnt be at the expense of another social problem.

perempuan lama tukar perempuan baru

The headline here comes the brides. Now guys here are going for the brides in Vietnam, Thailand, Burma and or China. It makes me wonder why. Because these young brides want to get out of their own country or seeking new life elsewhere. China Dolls have been here for a long time. Many older men had fallen preys to these China Dolls. These women have one motive in mind - get your money or properties then disappear!!! My view scored from the sad stories published in the newspapers. Practically I see the older guys go crazy over these young brides. Have our women any difference at all? Perhaps our women are more aggressive and career minded and dont want to settle down so soon. Maybe after 35 years old...The guys will think they are too old for marriage. The question : Career or marriage? Now the guys go for foreign brides - young, vibrant, energetic, pretty, dont ask so many questions, etc..One of my neighbours landlord got swindled by a young bride. He is in his 50s. The young wife took all his money and disappear to her homeland. She never wants to come back. There will be many soap stories to tell......

khalwat raids

I agree with the Perlis Mufti's views on the overzealous religious officers raids on Muslim committing close proximity. If we take the view of the ancient texts, if you never commit a sin then you take the first stone throw. But if you have sins, you shouldnt do it. There are many issues for the religious officers to tackle. Policing religion isnt the way to seek enlightenment. It is the way of the corrosive mind. You harvest what you plant. In between of the religious texts every follower wants to claim the best. In the beginning there is already a conflict amongst the people. When Muhammed died, Islam is split into 2 groups. Sad isnt it? When Jesus died, the religion too is split. Very familiar isnt it? The famous quotes :-

There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah
I am the Son of God. Whoever believe in Me will have eternal life

Currently both religions have over billion followers. But the followers dont agree on each other texts. The prophets were from the same family tree sent by the same God/Allah. So arent we have sinned through the ages of time?

But the religious office won't agree with the Perlis Mufti's view. Maybe next time he will be asked to attend for counselling for saying something different from the general consumption. Whoever sins...........he/she shall ask for forgiveness. Punishment is not by the mere mortals; punishment is in the hands of the Lord. The religious officers should go and spread the religion, explaining about the beautiful religion, the dos and donts and what needs to be done in case one falls on the way. Hell we will go through...dust to dust we all shall return....until such times when the Lord calls. Peace be to the Lord and all of us for our trepassing and sins

live a simple life

Women die of heart problems. There was a survey done. So I believe it is the modern living and the pursuit of material wants that are besetting the women. Now the survey says it isnt breast cancer that tops the list. It is the heart problems which formed the highest number of fatal illness in women. True every one wants to be rich and live a happy contented life. But I always advocate simple living with the amount that one can spend. It is no use comparing with the neighbours or friends. Psst............jealousy is the fall of life. Besides, stress too plays a part in the fall of one who pursuits money as the ultimate goal in life. Pity. Life has many positive values to share. Maybe now the women should think it over. Seriously.

Malaysia....we are blessed all the times

toll hikes 2

Toll0Hike_20061214.gif

It won't be a cozy Chinese New Year. The cost of goods will go up. The toll hikes will be from 10-60%. And our government tells us half baked story. The government thinks we are the small children or old people turning senile who dont know how to think. Samyvellu should disclose how the agreements are signed. How can it be at the expense of the taxpayers? Running business is a risk. Every one knows that but for the government to help these companies in the contracts are like daylight robbery against the people. We are talking about our own country. Why must we compare with other countries? It isnt the rationale to do it. Why not follow whole the thing? Why just to satisfy one own justification? The people should decide. Enough is enough!

By next year 2007 the toll hikes will push for the New Year Every motorist will show anger silently with the government lopsided agreements. Why must the government allow this to happen? These Cabinet ministers should resign long ago. The Works Minister says it is the cheapest in the world. I dont know what he is talking about. He should check the the per capita income of the world before he opens his mouth to claim that. Our per capita income is something like US5,500/- We can't even catch up with our neighbour Singapore. He doesnt have to hookwind the people. The voters should send these Cabinet ministers out in the next election. We have to subsidize the companies so that these companies will show a healthy profit. As I used to comment the privatization scheme isnt working. UK did it but she failed. Why the government failed to grasp it? I think the government should buy back the contracts. Afterall the taxpayers are going to feed these companies. We may as well buy it now. Eventually we dont have to pay toll. It is better to bite the bullet now and forever we are free from the stupidity of the government agreements. I dont see this happening because it is linked. Unless if we change government in the next election.

we are pendatang?

It is sad to hear the Malays called the other races like the Chinese and Indian as 'pendatang'. I view it as an insult to these people whose forefathers/mothers came here to help the country grow and prosper in peace and harmony. In history as recorded the Malays are also 'pendatang'. The Malays should have asked the same question of themselves before they called others 'pendatang' The orang Asli is the rightful owner of this country but......who was here before the orang Asli? Before the Malacca Sultanate it was populated by rulers of the Hindus origin. Then Parameswara founded Malacca and claimed the Sultanate Empire and later on he converted to Islam became Sultan Iskandar Shah and henceforth all his subjects too followed. It was from there that the Malays progressed. I just wish every one here should call each other Malaysian. If the disunity prevails just because of race base view, then I am afraid we will be colonised in time through world economy.

civil servants demands

The umbrella union for the civil servants Cuepacs wanted an increase of 40% in wages adjustment most probably by next year for over 1 million members. The Union is asking too much from the government. In the end it is the tax payers' dilemma to pay them. Citing that job improvements in their delivery systems, cost of fuel going up and toll charges, utilities rates, achieving ISO standards etc as the reasons for the demands is wrong. Any wage increase must be considered at all levels. The tax payers have to foot the bill in taxes. The government must find ways to pay the civil servants. During my negotiation with the Union in the company I didnt allow them to demand a hike of 10% or more. I had to tell them to work on a reasonable package that the company could deliver. Do they want the company to die? This was the message I told these Union officials. Because whatever quantum agreed I had to find ways to pay the employees wages every month. It was a headache which stressed me out every time. I couldnt delay payment which would become a slow death blow to the company and my own credibility. I had managed to pull it through. Likewise Cuepacs should understand. Maybe the government should privatise the civil servants jobs. In this way it frees them of the dilemma and let these civil servants find ways to pay themselves through a set of laws and guidelines to bill the public or let which company handles it under prescribed laws and regulations to bill according to the rates agreed by the people. The government likes to privatise services or create companies through shares to unlock the burden of the government. They shouldnt privatise the uniform personnel...like police, navy, army, hospital, courts and religious dept...

anwar should take his chances forget about PAS

Anwar shouldnt follow the shadow of Pas. The Islamic party is acting towards ala Taliban which is not suitable in the country of many races and religions. PKR must learn from the ground. The voters don't like Pas. He should be aware of the sentiments. He should make himself clearly to the people that he is the best alternative candidate to run the country. Before that he must make sure he shouldn't jump on the wagon with Pas. During the last election, Keadilan was totally wiped out because of its association with Pas. The Islamic party will spell doom for PKR because majority of the votes -Malays and Non-Malays- will not vote for them. So they will again vote for BN. Anwar should recognize the feelings on the ground. To get the votes, he should abolish toll collections because the BN gives the deal to its own cronies. The agreements have become a daylight robbery on the tax payers. They want business and they can increase toll as they like on the agreement. Why lopsided agreement PM? The Cabinet here should be totally voted out. Anwar should seize this opportunity. He was the former DPM so he should be aware of what was going on. Place ACA under Parliament. The DG should present his reports to Parliament and let the MPs decide the course of action required on those charged under the Act. If he can't abolish toll collections, he should limit the companies agreement. It isnt fair to the tax payers on the contracts signed by the BN government. The government may as well establish a company to collect tolls without using the private companies. After all it is the tax payers'money that is financing the project and pay for it for another 35 years or more....So these companies will not lose out in money..Legalized prostitution for a proper control on spreading of diseases especially AIDS and other STDs amongst the people. Nobody or government can beat prostitution at all. Like the adage 'if you can't beat them, join them'

no sexy clothes

The Muslim dominated state of Kelantan has decreed that all women should not wear revealing dresses. This is presumably to help them not to get raped or orgled at by the men. Or as the Muslim guys say tempt them to do the unwanted on them. This is the shallow thinking where it has no merit at all. Look at the state itself it has more rape cases that other states (I read somewhere in the Parliament through the police statistics) To me it isnt the dress that the women got raped or orgled at. It is the sick mind of the men - they can be Muslim or non-Muslim. I think Kelantan is bearing towards the Taliban state which will spell trouble in the state economy. The state government can kiss goodbye to tourism and tourism related products and services. The kampong folks should wake up and know the lies being told by the religious authority in Kelantan. We have our brains so used it wisely and not followed blindly. When we meet our Maker we can't say "We are told not to do this and that" Allah will say "Do you use the brain I give it to you?" The Kelantanese should say their piece in the box. This edit has encroached the privacy of the people. They should make a change for themselves and kick out the government for ruling it without consultations with the people and the Federal Constitution. I wonder what UMNO Youth will say...they are very quiet. Mind you they talk big when they are in the minority ruling and telling the majority of Malays what to do what not to do. UMNO has over 2 million members of over say 15 million Malays in the country. Will there defend the women or will they just keep quiet? Mind you either way this is the Islamic perceptive....

tougher cyber laws?

The government wants to introduce tougher cyber laws to curb the "freedom of expression"of the bloggers. On one hand the PM says he allows press freedom and on the other hand a minister wants laws to curb the bloggers from expressing seditious contents in the net. Every body is matured enough to understand what is written on the net. It is exposed through the borderless community and sometimes the bloggers may not have any visitors or maybe one or two who drop by to read. It is the way that the government of the day is afraid of. The government is afraid of what it is doing. Everything the government is doing is hiding behind OSA which nobody can say about. I dont expect full democracy but I expect the freedom to express my views in my own blog. The government should start its own blog too. Give the information or tell the truth about what it is doing. The opposition parties are blogging all the way. Every one who reads it will not just act on it; no every one will weigh the contents and discuss about it. If the government wants to curb bloggers' freedom, I think personally AAB and his Cabinet and parties will lose votes eventually.

my view of 2 cents

Go to fullsize image

UMNO let go their fiery members with a strong and caustic advice. To me these speakers should be sacked or suspended. They were inciting racial sentiments which arent good for leaders in this multi-racial multi-religious country. They shouldnt be allowed to run the country. These leaders aren't moulded in the spirit of the multi-racial country. They knew they were going live by Astro. Every one knew it too. So they had prepared for it of which they knew they won't get sack or suspended but merely advice from the UMNO Supreme Council through its president. By then the damages had been done. This was the reason they went ahead. Now the MB of Johore is harping on the similar issue but with a twist. He is still thinking Malays should rule the country and the other races are subservant to the Malays. Dato Onn Jaaffar wanted UMNO to be for all races. This was the reason he left UMNO. Why didnt he explain that? Dato Onn Jaaffar founded UMNO but he left the party because the members couldnt see his vision. Why keep harping about Onn Jaaffar when they dont agree with his vision? We shouldnt have race base party now. If the MB of Johore wants to see the vision of Dato Onn Jaaffar, he should say all BN parties grouped under one banner UMNO and anyone can be elected as the party president. This is the vision of Dato Onn. He wasnt fighting for his race; he was fighting for the country. Without a country Dato Onn knew there would be no Malays. So his vision was a party for all Malaysians. The Malays then didnt agree. So he left the party. Najib should take action on the MB where Najib had already explained his views. Yet we have the MB of Johore kept going about in a wrong way. Just remember Malaysia isnt for the Malays; it is for all races in the country.

admit the truth it will set you free

Why people never want to admit if they are wrong? Leaders should recognize that their private lives arent private any more when they offer themselves in public services. Once you have the confidence of the people, the people respect you to carry out your public duties with honesty and sincerity. When you are caught in social nightmares or whatever that is wrong, it is good to readily admit it. Because trying to patch damage control will make people ask for more. Why? How? When? The decisive action will control the malicious talk which would spread through the internet or smses or whatever forms available. When the bud is nipped on time, it can control the malicious lies. What I have seen are leaders who refused to accept it. They go to deny all the way which eventually will make them keep defending themselves but to what ends? If they win or they say it is right they never do, they should say it immediately. Going out to get people to confirm this and that will make others think too. Orgy perhaps? Daredevil excursion too? Like some politicians always say they are misquoted by the press eventually they are the ones who look so stupid....Admit the truth which will set anybody free
