Hindraf leaders arrested today under ISA. The deputy internal minister announced in the press conference. The act ISA empowers the government of the day to detain people without trial for 2 years. I know many dont want this piece of legislation carry over from the British administration. But the BN government wants it to keep them in power to rule the country. It is now over 50 years and yet the law ISA will not be repealed. The people have to decide in the next election. Choose a new party to govern the country. Change it every 2 terms or less so that no leader can hold the power and scoop up the country's wealth. I know know how the Indians and other races will react to this piece of action by the government. I thought the police charged them in court of law. Apparently the prime minister doesnt want the court to hear how marginalised the Indians have become. In a way it is a slap on MIC for not doing enough for the Indians after with the Alliance and then BN for decades. Though Sami way loot said he had done alot for his race, somehow it is shallow for the Indians. The street demonstration had proven that there are problems need to be addressed quickly. Arresting the Hindraf leaders can spell the way out for MIC and BN rule in the country. I will not agree on Hindraf statements. They arent honest when they drafted the memo to send to British PM and I believe they didnt tell the Indians what they had in mind. The government shouldnt arrest them under ISA. The government just made them the heroes of the marginalized Indians. My view it is a wrong move. It should charge them under the Penal Code
(Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan said the arrests, under Section 8(1) of the ISA, were made against the five for carrying out activities that threatened national security.
Those arrested are Hindraf legal advisers P Uthayakumar, M Manoharan, R Kenghadharan and V Ganabatirau and organising secretary T Vasantha Kumar. Source from Malaysiakini.com)
